Hi everyone! Just to keep you updated... I don’t know yet if I will be teaching virtually from home or from my classroom. But I wanted to create this space just in case because if I am teaching from my classroom, we may end up back at home if conditions worsen or anyone contracts the virus. Once I know exactly where I’ll be teaching from, I’ll let you all know! ❤️ Also, I know so many of you are very anxious about going back to school because this year is going to be SO different. But this is going to help us grow as educators and if anyone can do it, WE CAN! You’ve got this!

Smart idea! I have no space to do this:( Unless I try in my bedroom>< I have tons of items for my real classroom. We're going back in person (so far). Kids and teachers have to wear masks and follow the social distancing guidelines.

Teachers are amazing. I can't believe you just found out you have to teach virtually and, rather than mope around (as I'm doing as a college student who is also virtual), you just went to Target and started building your home classroom. I'm sorry that our society placed more value on going to bars and beaches this summer than on getting the virus under control so kids could get to school. This is such a sad situation and your students are so lucky to have someone like you to keep them positive and hopefully reduce the pedagogical and developmental impacts of missing in-person schooling.

I have been teaching for over 30 years and when March hit, I had no idea how to teach online and very little experience with technology. I spent the first couple weeks very sad, lost, and depressed. During vacation I had a talk with myself and decided that I had a choice. I could just wallow in self pity and struggle or I could learn. I chose to learn and that is when I found you. You literally saved me. I find you engaging and informed, intelligent, hard working, and professional. I have learned so much from you. Thank you for doing what you do and helping those of us who need it. I look forward to your videos and what you will do next. Thanks again

You are simply amazing. You are a big inspiration to me. I wanted to kindly ask you if you could talk about your views on how to go back to school online and actually manage to get to know them, identify their needs and set a good learning vibe but through the screen, I believe it's quite a challenge. (Ice breaker ideas and activities we have at the beginning of the school year) AND if you could also talk about how to keep them engaged for three hours daily. I am really anxious about this unusual start! ...thanks a lot Ms F...you are a blessing. Hi from Mexico!

Thank you for mentioning at the end that just because you decided to decorate your home space, not everyone will be able to (or want to). And that’s okay! I love all your decorations and your teaching space, but more importantly I know you’re an awesome teacher and that is enough. If I end up doing remote teaching I will just make do with what I have because I don’t have the extra money or time but you can bet I will put 100% into teaching my students the best I can. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us, you are so inspiring! Even this 20 year veteran can learn a thing or two from you. ❤️❤️❤️

I stumbled on one of your KZfaq videos last spring when I was trying to navigate Google Classroom. Your tutorials on all things Google literally saved me and helped me deliver effective lessons. I loved your cheery videos and your love of teaching. I was hooked and I've been watching ever since! I'm a high school teacher and I'm in my last two years of teaching high school. I will be retiring in May 2022. I've had a long career actually going from overhead projectors to virtual instruction...a real rollercoaster ride for sure!!! I'm in San Antonio, Texas and we just received word that we will be virtual until Labor Day; however, I believe that will change due to surging numbers here. Monday I began rearranging a spare bedroom into a classroom. I felt I needed to do this for my students. This is so weird to be starting school this way, but I want to bring a sense of excitement to my kiddos. My room set up, which I will share with you when I am done, will be the same i.e. replicating a cheery, bright classroom. The only difference is the content. I am a high school social studies special education/GEC teacher serving homebound and hospital students. I actually serve students in their homes and/or in their hospital rooms. I carry my lessons and classroom in my car (yes, my arms are muscular). My students have illnesses that prevent them from attending school with their peers. I keep students on target with their peers and assist them to smoothly transition back into their classroom as they convalesce. I, myself, had knee surgery two weeks ago (unexpectedly) and I have been confined to a chair with my leg up so I've actually been Pocketful of Primary binging since. I went back and followed your journey from second grade and through your current assignment (I picked videos here and there because there are literally so many). It's such a beautiful story and you and Billy are just the cutest couple! I know your wedding is coming up soon. Best wishes for a very happy future together.

Yeah. We are trying to begin in classroom, but we're all supposed to be ready to drop back to online from home at a moment's notice. It is going to be a long year, but like you said, we can't control it. I really hope to remain in the brick and mortar school. Your ending on this is so right on. Whenever I need a shot in the arm I watch you! You saved me from a nervous breakdown a few years ago. I love the setup of your office. I'm so happy you moved your desk. I've mentioned to all my colleagues that we can see them better if they're facing a window instead of having their back to a window. No one listens! Anyhow I'm wondering why you just use a virtual whiteboard. I found it very useful in the spring. Sometimes I would let the 6th graders scribble and draw after I finished the lesson. They loved it. They're not so different from elementary students who I taught for many years. I'm getting used to middle school. I still have much to learn but so far so good. I needed the change more than I realized. Hope you have a great year. In my district we're starting 100% virtual but we don't know for how long. California has had another surge so it all depends on the state of the state. Good luck!

I taught (from home) those students who chose to learn from home. I did not set up a classroom in my home office, but if our school decides not to open this year or suddenly closes again, I definitely will. Thanks for the ideas!

I love those page protectors also. I use them for centers in my classroom so I don’t have to keep making copies and the kids love using expo markers on them to show their work but I love how you also used them in your virtual class.

Thank you so much for your work, for the students and for us the teachers. Could you keep us posted on how you will do assessment this fall? I was not allowed to grade my students in the spring and am looking for how teachers are virtually assessing students. with admiration, A teacher in upstate NY

Thank you so much for your videos! They have been very helpful during this crazy time. I teach at a small private school and only have 9 students (5th & 6th grade) and I'm hoping we will be able to be in the classroom but you never know. I've already started updating my "home" teaching studio and was wondering about a background. Thanks for the ideas!

I absolutely love it! ❤️ I put up a desk in the spring and that was all I needed, then. I know if I have to start out the year, I would want to create a better space like yours. It was nice seeing Luna co-star in this video. 🤩

Love this so much! I agree about the whiteboard too - I still love using a physical white board, even though I can use my virtual one!

I'm a PE teacher, and the thought of doing live virtual lessons has given me so much anxiety. I'm especially nervous about getting to know all of my new kindergartners (which will be about 150) over a computer. This video calmed me down, and thank you for reminding us to just embrace it and do what we can!

Hi Michelle!! I loved this video on transforming your office into a virtual classroom. 1) where did you get the string lights? 2) I would love to see if you use a virtual Bitmoji classroom and share how u use it. 3) I’d love to see what you are planning on doing for back to school night.

I love the way your virtual classroom looks and is organized. We are going back into the brick and mortar per our District. Many teachers are freaking out. Wish we could stay virtual and use all of your fabulous ideas.

That looks great! I love how excited you are to set this up and to get started this year. I feel the same way! I'm thinking maybe I should take some pictures, or maybe make a vlog of my "home classroom", too! I worked really hard on creating something when things went virtual in March, and I was really happy with it then. Over the summer, I taught summer school and worked to revamp my "home classroom" to adjust for some of the things I learned during the last few months of the school year. I just finished painting the room and now I'm organizing things. I can't wait for it to all be finished.

I'm a relatively new teacher in Pre-K and I still live with my parents, so the most space I will have is my room (that's already crammed with things as it is). I absolutely love your space and wish I could have something similar hopefully by the time the new year starts I'll have something figured out.

We were told that there would be a need for virtual subs so this video really helped me get ideas for setting up my virtual classroom. Thanks so much.
