I would have pulled the desk away from the wall and had the chair with my back against the wall. It gives you a great background for filming and zoom calls, you are able to look out the window and across the room and don't have your back to the door.

Not if she's keeping that desk. It's way too wide to sit in the center of that space. You could barely walk around it and it would just be frustrating every single day.

Hi Cathrin, like everything in your office, but not sure about the large light fixture. I reckon it kinda overtakes the room because it’s too large. Anyways I’m not an interior designer but rather sharing my thoughts.

You should use the Sims to try and figure out rug placement in rooms XD It can be kind of handy for stuff like that.

Girl I love that Light fixture it is a statement. Looks amazing! I'm also working on decorating my house and currently getting all the floors replaced. So it's just one journey after the next. I think it's so fun that you're sharing your journey, because it's inspiring for me to share mine. Also, I love the light bulb hack, because I too want to put lights where I don't have wiring yet... and don't feel like making the investment to cut into the ceiling and hire an electrician to rewire.... What a world we live in to have such luxuries as remote powered lightbulbs !!! :) It's the little things that make life just a little easier!!

I love the added text commentary and the dogs in this one. Hilarious! And, this office decorating project looks so fun! I love the final reveal! That rug is perfect and so is the bookcase with all your electronics on it. I think I might do something similar.

It looks great, you did an amazing job. My only recommendation would be to hang the curtain higher, up to the ceiling and add more panels.

I'm one of the "face the dining room" people and I'm sorry! When you see the desk in place it's obviously way too big to be in the center of the space. You could sorta kinda put it there, but it would just make you annoyed every time you had to skirt past it. In my defense, I usually have a tough enough time judging physical space that I actually use the video game House Flipper as a makeshift CAD program before I start on my own spaces! 😂

PAY AN INTERIOR DECORATOR to help you style your home! They are really good at knowing how to source pieces (furniture, rugs, blinds, draperies, linens, etc.) that will fit your style as well as the dimensions of your home. Then you can make videos of your experience with all that :)

Maybe move the the desk forward a few feet and sit behind it and you’ll have a nice backdrop for your online meetings and less glare from the window. Also maybe place some artwork on the blank wall opposite of the window, it will spruce it up a little;)

I love those windows! My first instinct would be to pull the desk away from the wall so that you are facing the door way (back to the wall) and still being able to look out the window. It's also complying with Feng Shui.

Instead of moving a heavy piece of furniture twice or more, you can move it once, take a photo of it assembled, move it out of the room or into one spot if you’re trying more than one place. Then, use a 3D representation in a decorating app to see it in your room - just two pictures, one of the room, one of the desk superimposed. Then, move the desk to where you want it. You should also measure it if you haven’t, to be sure it will fit. Same with light fixtures, just be sure to size them accurately as possible. Just for future reference

And…I would put a shelf over the desk about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up the wall to make it look more balanced.
