Hey hey, what about us old guys that took up the cello very late in life? We're not seeking fame or fortune, we just want to sound good and make up for lost time. I'm 53. I took up the cello only 3 weeks ago. Currently, I'm practicing scales, left hand fingering intonation, right hand bow control, and reading musical notation on the bass clef. I practice about 2 hours a day broken into 3 daily sessions, 5 days a week. On the weekend, I practice 4 hours a day, Brown into 2 sessions.

I'm a high school student with no plans of pursuing a music career, but I think that taking up cello strictly for the music alone shows a lot about your character and passion. Practice with the same rigor and discipline you would as if your livelihood depended on it, you'll find this attitude will help you acquire a joy you never knew existed. This video applies to you the same way it would a performance major. I really love what you're doing, and hope I pick cello back up in my retiring years as well. Wish you luck!

Whoa! How cool. Even moreso, because you're from St Louis. Me too!!! Well, kinda. I'm in a tiny little town in Illinois, about 30 miles north of the City. Yeah, the cello is cool. I even recorded an album with it. I'm an ambient musician and composer. You can see my work at Dhyananda.BandCamp.com. The KZfaq channel for my music is Ambient Meditations. Thanks for replying. Congratulations on being an award-winning photographer. That's cool. Let's stay in touch! Oh, by the way. I'm not Freddy. I'm Dhyananda. Freddy is my hamster. LOL.

What is going on with your tuning pegs?? Two seem to be missing.
@heinzguderian99805 жыл бұрын
They are pegs with removable handles. There are actually very short stubs protruding from the holes (though you probably can't see them in this video) and these stubs contain a hole, into which a "key" can be inserted which allows tuning of that string. Here is one version of it on amazon: www.amazon.com/Stringvision-Keypeg-Posture-Pegs-Cellists/dp/B00T8IMMGU And here is a patent diagram (2nd diagram shows you how it comes apart): patents.google.com/patent/US5388491

@@heinzguderian9980 exactly right! :) They're also wonderful for tall people such as myself who don't fit the cellos intented posture naturally 😊
