One of our sons bought us these for our two tall floor lamps in living room. We can change the settings through smartphone as well as the voice activated Alexa. They are pretty nice.

The current Hue app doesn't provide the ability to copy custom scenes to a different room.

How do I make the automation schedule DEFAULT to a certain Scene?

To have a custom scene available when setting up an automation, you'll need to go into the individual room settings and save it to that room. It should then appear in your list of scenes when setting up automations for that room. There's not an option to automatically set all new automations to a specific scene that we're aware of in the app.

The app maker has stated they will be adding a timing speed slider in a future version of the app.

@@BestBuy This is wrong. This timing speed slider, is for the pattern movement in their latest gradient products, allowing you to control the speed in which colours move across a single light, like the Hue Lightstrip Gradient Ambiance.

Setting up your Phillips Hue Lights is a snap. There is a bridge controller that will plug into your WiFi router with a provided network cable. You'll then download the Philips Hue app to connect to it and set up your smart lights as well as control them.

STOP! If you like these lights, read this. These are cool but, I found a google home mini with a smart light bulb...it was a kit. Only $25 because I found it on sale..then I went to Lowe’s and found these smart lights that connect with the google home mini...they were $10 each and they changed colors. I bought two because I have two lights in my room. I love it because when you get it all set up you can say “hey google turn on my lights” or “ok google change my lights to blue” or you can control it from your phone. They can go strobe, rainbow alternating, and everything but that you have to do the strobe thing from your phone. You can do normal colors from google. And it will do it. Just ask google to turn your lights on and off though because if you use Th e switch rather than google, the lights will start to flash. All of this was MUCH cheaper! Your welcome!

Yeah, have cheap options. But since the product come of China(bad privacy laws)and is directly connected to your wifi, your privacy can be on risk.

You can update your system in the Philips Hue app. Open the app, go to settings and click "Software-update". The app will now start to look for updates and download them when available.

You may want to consider getting a different router and/or range extender, so that the lights can be integrated in with the rest of your network.

Philips Hue uses a smart hub that connects to your wireless router with an ethernet cable. It broadcasts its own "Mesh" network for the smart bulbs/lights, each bulb increases the range/reliability of the Hue mesh network. As long as your smart phone/tablet can connect to your wireless network you can control the lights. You can also setup permission to allow remote control outside of your home network as long as your smart phone/tablet has an internet connection away from home.

Once your Philips Hue setup is complete, you'll be able to access the Hue app to install "formulas" for more advanced setups. One of these is called "Hue colorloop" and will help cycle through colors of your choosing.

Phillips hue is a rip off. You can get smart bulbs for like $25 on amazon that don’t require a $50-100 hub. Also those light strips are crap. You can get brighter longer strips that work with Alexa for around $30

These are much more reliable. These integrate with many more smart home services. Automations on these work even if the internet is down. Devices don’t bog down Wi-Fi network.
