I love how Dr Naoki Yamamoto described scenes from Naruto in Islamic terms and concepts. That's what made me love anime, especially Naruto to be honest. Some if not most concepts of morality and virtue depicted in Japanese anime, manga and literature aligns with Islamic virtues so well. Thinking about it, all good virtues in literature and visual media can be aligned with Islamic virtues, because Islam is haq and fits in with our fitra, but there's just something with the Japanese way of thinking, feeling and narrating that I personally think is perfectly in line with Islam, and the pragmatic spiritual side of it. Well done!

As an Indonesian muslim, I am proud when brother Naoki admire our Sunan Kalijaga. I share your (bro Ahmed's & bro Naoki's) dreams for a much much less patronizing story telling naration. As invigorating, smart, precise yet subtle, choice of words in our most favourite book. In Al Quran, I enjoy a kind of communication which questioned our why of thinking, explore our options and relate to our daily live experiences. However, I am among those who to like listen to scholars with opposing views. Scholars who remind us about all of the pitfalls and red flags that we should aware of. Nevertheless, there is a void in anime or comic with Islamic judgement or thinking or decision making process.The void which at end are exploited by others. I look forward to chip in if the in very near future there is a crowd funding for an exciting Islamic anime or comic project. You might like to have conversation with our Ustadz Felix Siauw. On top of as an anime fan boy, he has published a comic for Indonesian childern with Islamic virtues.

Growing up with anime culture and how it evolved to recently days, I'm really sceptical on putting Islamic teaching in forms of manga drawings and animations. There will be benefits, no doubt. But the window of sin will be even wider for those who know. Not only it will be mocked and corrupted, it may leads to violence and extremism. But anything can become those with the right determination i guess. Just humble advise to proceed it with great cautions.

I think the regular conception of anime in most people's minds tends to jump straight to the shonen genre but I'd like to see anime that tackle broader, deeper and more complex topics such as morality, mental health, politics, the state and structure of the world but also more grown up topics such as relationships, marriage, managing work and life and such. Basically I want something like Evangelion or grown up seinen shows such as Wotakoi but with an Islamic point of reference

Very interesting topic, thanks for bringing that up. But I didn't like when you kept comparing between anime characters and Qur'anic stories. I also agree with Dr Naoki in 1:20:19 I think Muslim artists should start introducing deeper content than the direct approach in such films. I think a plot like AOT or even Naruto with a single or few Islamic topics presented inside the story would have greater impact on wider audience than a direct film about the Islamic or Arabic culture.

The teachings of Islam can be spread easily by means of anime, but the problem is who is leading the anime industry because they will not allow many of the teachings of Islam or the proofs of Prophet Muhammad's prophecy pbuh in western cinema etc. Also, the manga company that gained momentum with the movie The Journey, whose main goal is to achieve financial profitability, and not its goal is to spread the teachings of Islam The manga company is affiliated with the Misk Foundation of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and it is one of Saudi Arabia's plans to diversify its economy through the anime industry. But it can be an educational factor for Muslim children like Al-Majd Islamic Channel has done many moral animations The anime industry is difficult to succeed without government support. For example, the Bragon company, which produced the Bilal movie, then stopped producing any film because financial funding is required, and the American and European market is the most profitable in this industry, and they will restrict any preaching of Islam Some Saudi and Egyptian companies produced some good cartoon series, but they needed great financial support and expertise to be as strong as the American and Japanese companies in the animation industry, and this did not happen.

I am a muslim women revert and fan of manga ! I have always felt that lot of anime vehicle deep islamic virtues ! (In someways of course. And Except some scenes or some mangas). When you see this, you feel that it should be not that hard to introduce Islam to Japanese! if we don't act like christian missionaries... And also we have to admit that as non japanese muslim, these animes bring us so much even as muslims. I find more peace and inspiration by meditating on deep animes as Naruto from an islamic point of view, than listening some khutba... is it not sad or weird ? Because some mangas show us how to live some of those virtues and not just talk... Of course "real" islamic manga would be even more deep it is so much inspiration and challenge for us. But this level of inspiration depends on the watcher, some fan just like the action and do not see the depth.

A group of people well versed in anime and seerah should make an anime series or movie on the prophet Muhammad (Saw) in collaboration with scholars. They should do it according to mainstream guidelines according to the quran and sunnah, of course this is not traditional completely and some guidelines might be overstepped(drawing pictures) but inshallah may Allah forgive for Daw purpose. The good outweighs some of the evils inshallah within limits of course.
@Solemn_G
@Solemn_G Жыл бұрын
As Dr. Yamamoto mentioned, it is better to avoid stories from the Seerah because there is potential to mischaracterize or misconstrue the information for the sake of making the plot more interesting. Also there are way too many restrictions that would limit the ability to apply creativity. It'd be better to do stories based on righteous figures in our Islamic history where a little bit of fiction can help strengthen the plot without potentially blaspheming.

It is not permissible to depict the Sahaabah at all, according to the correct scholarly opinion. it is haraam to watch such movies, whether they are portrayed by real actors or in cartoons.
@majidhussain3896
@majidhussain3896 Жыл бұрын
Undoubtedly portraying them will detract from the high esteem in which they are held by people, and viewers may begin to think of them in the image of the actors who play their roles. This is in addition to what many of these serials and movies contain of distortion and fabrication of events according to what is dictated by the medium. In a fatwa of the Standing Committee (1/712) it says: Portraying the Sahaabah or one of them is forbidden, because it is disrespectful towards them, lowers the esteem in which they are held and exposes them to criticism, even if it is thought that this serves a purpose, because the negative consequences to which it leads outweigh any benefits, and anything of which the negative consequences outweigh the positive is definitely forbidden. A statement was issued by the Council of Senior Scholars stating that this is forbidden. End quote. To further emphasize this point, we shall quote the statement of the Council of Senior Scholars on which all its members were unanimously agreed, the text of which follows: 1.Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, praised the Sahaabah and affirmed their high status. Presenting the life story of any one of them in the form of a play or movie is contrary to Allah’s praise of them and detracts from the high status and honour that Allah, may He be exalted, granted them. 2.Depicting any one of them may expose them to mockery and belittling by people who for the most part are not righteous and are far removed from piety and Islamic conduct in their public lives, in addition to the fact that those who produce such plays and serials do it for the purpose of material gain. No matter how careful they are, they will still include lies and backbiting. Moreover, depicting the Sahaabah (may Allah be pleased with them) will make people lose respect for them and begin to look down on them; their trust in the companions of the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon them) will be shaken and the esteem in which Muslim viewers hold them will decrease. This may lead Muslims to doubt their religion and will open the door to arguing about the Companions of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Some of the actors would inevitably have to play the parts of Abu Jahl and his ilk, which means that they would utter words reviling Bilaal and reviling the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and what he brought of Islam, and this is undoubtedly wrong. It will also be taken as a means of confusing the Muslims about their religion, the Book of their Lord and the Sunnah of their Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). 3.What is said about serving interests - such as highlighting noble characteristics and good manners, whilst making sure that facts are presented accurately on the basis of authentic reports of the seerah, and not compromising any of that in any way, in order to convey the right message and teach lessons - is mere assumption and hope. Anyone who knows how actors are and what they aim for will realize that this kind of acting is contrary to the reality of these actors and others who work in that field, and how they really live and behave. 4.One of the established principles in Islam is that anything that leads to purely negative consequences, or of which the negative consequences outweigh the good, is haraam. Even if we assume that there is some benefit in acting the roles of the Sahaabah, its negative consequences outweigh the positive. Therefore in order to protect the public interests of the Muslims and block the means (that may lead to evil), and to protect the dignity of the Companions of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon them), this must be prevented. End quote from Abhaath Hay’at Kibaar al-‘Ulama’, 3/328

Not all women were just wives or mothers (nothing wrong with these life paths but there is a biasity in females r only associated with just these 2 ).
