Join me on an exciting journey as I move my dark and cramped 140 square feet sewing area (housed in my dining room) into a stunning 350 square feet dream sewing space in my very own backyard shed.
I'll show you almost every step of the process, sharing my design and storage ideas. I hopefully say goodbye to my cluttered workstations and hello to an organized and inspiring environment where creativity can truly flourish.
To start, I tackled the insulation, ensuring a comfortable and temperature-controlled workspace. Next, I installed pegboard, the ultimate organizational tool, to keep all my sewing and leatherworking supplies neatly arranged and easily accessible. Adding drywall not only enhanced the visual appeal but also helped improve the overall acoustics, perfect for recording high-quality videos.
With a carefully planned floor layout, I curated a space that balances style and efficiency.
Join me on this incredible DIY journey that I thought I would never get to share

I keep thinking about a shed. I’m not happy with my current space, but I have more space than a lot of my crafting friends. I got spoiled by the last two craft/sewing spaces I had.

Congratulations on your new space! I am absolutely jealous. I cut fabric on my living room floor, sew in my kitchen, press/iron in entryway and do everything else either on the floor or the coffee table. Pure chaos. Having a dedicate space is going to be awesome. And thanks for addressing the window situation. I was worried for your fabrics.

I can completely empathize with your situation. At one point I was going upstairs to iron (which definitely didn't encourage me to iron 😒). But I think it's amazing that despite the space, you still make things!

When I designed my new crafting/sewing room last year, I made sure everything has either wheels or sliders so I could easily move everything around for versatility & cleaning. Congratulations on your new studio! I’m loving mine ☺️. BTW big glue traps work great to catch creepy crawlers or even mice which inevitably find their way in.

I keep shifting it around while trying to get everything else together. Pretty soon I think the whole outer wall is going to be covered and it'll turn into a trash speedway!

I used those rubber/foam workshop floor puzzle pieces. They're super cheap and easily replaceable, and provide a little insulation so the floor doesn't get super cold. Also, I can lay fabric out on the floor and pin directly into the foam and I don't feel bad if I spill anything on it.

Awesome space and fantastic work! 🎉 Go you! So looking forward to seeing what creativity a dedicated bespoke workspace frees up. It feels like room to think and make and play. And yep, however silly it looks, if it works for you, it ain’t silly. 🌻🛼🪁
