I cannot stand how many plastic bags that are just shoved into the cabinets of my kitchen! We DO use them, mainly for doggie waste, so I don't like to just throw them out. What I needed was one of these adorable and easy-to-make dispensers!

I am about to attempt this, my grandma use to make these all the time when I was just a child and she would have one for each holiday and gave them to the family as well but she used to sew them. She was amazing at sewing, she made my pillows, blankets and curtains for my bedroom . I would have loved to have learned how to sew but she passed away when I was only 9 years old. I loved the video, hopefully mine comes out as good as yours did.

For those asking about the elastic - just attach it to a pen with a clip and then feed the pen through the hole. I use this method bc I have a horrible time with my hands. You obviously want to make the hem big enough for the pen to glide through the tunnel you make. :)

Couldn't you put the elastic in before gluing it so you don't have to feed it through? Then tighten it at the end? I honestly don't know

ok. Thanks. i use fabric glue to stick the long side of the fabric. the hot glue glued the hem..

Good video. I do suggest that you use a large safety pin or a diaper pin to feed the elastic through the sleeve. Thanks!

Just add the elastic before you glue it together.

Yeah, Daisy......that's what I do when the drawstring comes out of my sweats, although I try to remember to tie it in a knot before they go in the washer.

Never really thought about it. Guess it would depend upon the price of the supplies you use and how long it takes you to make one.

I used some of a 18" x 21" fabric piece. You can get this single pieces at Walmart or craft stores like Michael's and A.C. Moore for under a dollar.

I just use an old teatowel - half the work's done already. I would not have cut that fabric smaller like she did, it was such a waste :(
