Ableton Live's Resonators is a unique tool for creative sound design. Unfortunately, the device limits you to a single static note or chord. Turn Resonators into a playable instrument with the free bcResonCtrl MaxForLive device.

Seriously fantastic tutorial. I'm already ripping into this. I just had one question... and forgive me if is stupidly dumb... but I've noticed that despite having the Dry/Wet signal set to 100% in the Resonator .. sometimes the clip that is playing... in my examples it's drum samples... will still be really dominant in the overall resonator sound. Is there a way for the sample to trigger the resonator but reduce the original sample sound more? ie if i wanted to erase it completely? Thanks again. You're videos are awesome !
@ELPHNT
@ELPHNT 3 жыл бұрын
That's just kind of how the Resonators work, you'll always have some of the original quality of the material being processed. There are some things you can do in the new Spectral Resonators in Live 11 to blur the input signal a bit, but you'll still always have some characteristics of the original in there.

With this level of creativity one needs a different approach to structure and finishing tracks cause of its' rather experimental/avant-garde nature. Can you make video about that? I am really into new wave producers of avant-garde electronica or even pop that use these sort of sonic palette but can't get my head around the song structure cause subtractive arrangement does not really work. Thank you! PS: examples would be: Lapalux, A.A.L., Sevdaliza

So it sounds like the bcresoncntrl plus resonator were the precursor to the Spectral Resonator device in Live 11. Can anyone think of differences this work flow has over the new one?
@ELPHNT
@ELPHNT Жыл бұрын
If you wanna be reeeeeaaaaly nitpicky, then I suppose there are some slightly different sounds you could get out of the Resonator devices compared to Spectral Resonators, so this technique still makes a little bit of sense but, for the most part, I'm just using Spectral Resonators to do the same thing now.
