Jennifer, I would like to take a moment to say thank you for all your inspirations! Plus a special thank you for inspiring me to give this stitching on cards a try! I have to say I love it!!! Many years ago my mother taught me how to embroidery as a young child. I love it then and still do. But thanks to your inspiration I can now combine my love of cardmaking and embroidery together into one. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

These stitched cards are beautiful. I love stitching on cards as well on Aida cloth/pierced plastic. I’ve been doing cross stitching for almost 40 years. I’m so glad it’s getting introduced in paper crafting. I love the tip about criss crossing the stitches for a different look. Great video.

I always forget how relaxing and easy stitching on paper can be until I do it again! It always looks so beautiful, and as if it took a long time to do. Your cards are all fantastic! I love both joy designs, but think I favor the blue. But they are both lovely. You always add extra touches to make them treasures. Thank you for all you do to bring creativity and kindness to our world. I have been personally touched by your kindness, and I am a complete stranger. You are indeed a gem in this world! Stay safe! 💙🙏🏽😌

I have been stitching since I was in my early teens...now 63 years young! A few years ago I got into card making. Recently I happened upon one of Jennifer's videos on stitching on paper and I was immediately hooked. Nothing better than combining two of my favorite hobbies! Thank you Jennifer for these videos. Guess I am on my way over to Spellbinders for the new release ... I am not afraid to admit that I have full set syndrome 😊 ... gotta have them all, lol. Your cards are amazing! 💕

Thank you for sharing this. I have seen many videos showing these stitching dies where the creator states there is only one way to stitch. I realize they were trying to make the dies less intimidating for folks not confident in stitching, but at the same time it made the dies less versatile. There is no wrong way to stitch if you like the results! Thank you for showing so many possibilities. Very inspiring

WOW YOU GO GIRL!!!! I watch all of your videos and this one blew my mind. You got a lot in and it wasn't overwhelming. This has completely inspired me. Lots of hard work and I thank you for sharing your passion. You asked in the question which style of stitching we preferred more shown in the Joy Cards. Well. to be honest I like them equally the same for different reasons. With less stitching it looks very clean and sharp showing more negative space and the other card looks more full, elaborate and has ore depth. Both are fabulous. Thanks again girl.... you inspire me all day!!! xo

Jennifer, I have found with metallic thread it is easier to feed the cut ends through the eye of the needle then hold it until I complete the first two stitches, that will anchor the thread so it does not slip out the eye of the needle. Hope that helps. I am enjoying your videos so much. Thanks for all your help, encouragement and inspiration. Stay safe, stay cool. MaryLisa

@Jennifer McGuire Ink • Jennifer: Thanks for the tip on how to use metallic thread with these dies. Anyone who has used these threads in a machine knows they can be challenging. I'm not sure it would have occurred to me to just repeat the stitch to get better coverage because that is so much the opposite of any other needlework I do. I also loved the demo of the stitched cover plate dies. Seeing their versatility really helps, as did the rectangle over the "JOY" stitched die. Thanks for all your hard work to bring us these beautiful, creative cards. 👍

Thanks for validating my ideas. I love it when professional crafters demonstrate similar ideas to mine in a video; makes me feel like I know what I’m doing. A “HELLO” stitching die was in one of Spellbinders Club Kits. When I first saw it I thought, “No. Hard pass.” Because the die stacked the letters in “HELLO” in a way that makes me uncomfortable. But then I got it in my head to divide the die cut up so that I could use the letters in a straight line. Made the die usable for me. I’m so happy to see you divided the Joy Stitching die cut in a similar fashion. I didn’t have the idea to change the sentiment altogether so thank you for sharing this.

Love the cards. Love the simpler blue card...probably because I gravitate to blues and purples. But found it interesting that the pine pieces on the red card, done with the extra stitches could easily pass for a pine cone if done in browns. All you would have to do is connect the end stitches to outline it. Beautiful cards.

Love stitching dies. I have quite a collection going. Including Waffle Flower, Spellbinders and Lawn Fawn. Just got the Spellbinders alphabet, numbers and punctuation. And on Saturday I signed up for their stitched die of the month club. This is such an addiction. I use #10 crochet thread that I get from Hobby Lobby. Every stitching die I have came from a Spellbinders die club save one. Stitching dies have pretty much rubbed me the wrong way from the start because I dislike the idea of being locked into a hole pattern. But then I’ve been embroidering on paper for crikey 30+ years. OMG! More like 40 years now. Does anyone else remember the stitching fad in the heyday of Scrapbooking? Lots of companies put out stitching templates. I still have all of my Basic Grey ones and a charming letter set from Amy Tangerine. And there’s Pergamano of course. I started as a child because I was super intimidated by freehand embroidery on cloth so I tried paper because it is stiffer. My mum is European and in her time girls were pretty well forced to learn embroidery, knitting, stitchery, etc. and she thought her girls should jolly well learn as well. I used to embroider in my journal--mostly hearts, stars, and snowflakes. I still love embroidery over text. And photos. Stitching on photos makes my heart swoon. It’s also delightful combined with watercolor. In case the cost of Spellbinders alphabet stitching dies made your heart stop, please know that you can prick a pattern on any alphabet die cut. I thought I’d share with my fellow card makers that creating stitch patterns on paper is dead easy. There are tons of free patterns available. There are pricking templates naturally as well as many, many books. Your local library probably has a couple of books on the topic. For whatever reason embroidery on paper has always been more popular in Europe (though Japan has a lovely tradition as well) so naturally the big name designers are European. Erica Fortgens & Joke De Vette are very popular designers. Fortgens’ Basics of Embroidery on Paper is a very good beginner’s guide. Here are some links and search terms. Pinterest has lots of pins too. Allthingspaper.net bit.ly/3cn5wvx Stitchingcards.com Erica Fortgens Joke de Vette Dot patterns and Punched tin patterns can be translated for paper embroidery as well. So there are lots of options and you really don’t need to buy any new dies if you just want to try it.

That being said, I'm digging the look of these Spellbinders dies. I've got to pick up some of them. I have so many ideas going through my head right now...and all of 'em Christmas themed. I’ve been enjoying stitching and love all new ideas. Fun to experiment. I’ve used variegated floss to get extra color but I think I like using different solid colors to get more control of color change. I struggle with the h in my “hi” set. It gets creased right at the thinnest part. Any tips for avoiding this problem?

Have you tried stacking the die cuts yet? 2-3 layers should strengthen the narrow arch at the top of the “h” enough so that it no longer creases.
