Hey guys,
I am so excited to be sharing this tutorial with you today. My brother recently got married and for some unknown reason I volunteered to making his wedding backdrop. Yes I realize that sounds crazy. I cannot explain how stressed out I was during the entire process. Anyways this entire tutorial shows the process of me making the backdrop. I think it really looked simple and elegant and that is exactly what my sister in law and brother wanted.
The backdrop was budget friendly considering that it was a wedding backdrop. The total cost was around $500 and it took me about 1 week to put it together. The entire thing measures 7.5ft tall by 10ft wide. The full list of materials is available at my website and I've left a link for that above.

I mean, silk flowers are not cheap at all but the alternative could be real flowers which then would make this impossible to make morning or night before unless that was your only responsibility.

Amazom has a backdrop stand for about $70 that has the leg in the middle. Also the dollar store has these same flowers. Looks gorgeous tho!

I understand. When we were calling wedding event companies then the quotes I was getting for flower backdrops were between $2000-$3000. It honestly is just the cost of the flowers. If you use less flowers or slightly less quality flowers then you can greatly reduce the cost of the backdrop. The fabric was only around $60 dollars and the rest of the cost was flowers, so it is a very controllable cost because you can determine has many flowers you add and what kind.

Fishing line could cut through the foam Try a thin tape wrapped around the foam in several places. Craft shops should sell the florist tapes. Cheap. Alternative, scrunch chicken wire fasten with zip ties.

Hi Ladies, yes that is cheap. Flowers alone can cost $200-$400.00 and then the curtains, foam board and the backdrop stand

yes it is cheap because when you hire someone for it they will charge you $2000-3000

I know $500 is a lot to be spending on a backdrop, but when I called wedding event decor companies they were quoting me between $2000-$3000 and that was just way out of budget, so I figured I could do something in $500. I could have lowered the cost by adding less flowers, but I got a little carried away at the end. lol Thanks so much for the support. :)

Wow I would absolutely love to recreate something like this for my up coming nuptials, can you please tell me how you transported this on the day of? Was it difficult?

I transported the four flower portions in boxes. I actually cut two large boxes from Home Depot until they were flat and then put one of the flower portions for the backdrop on the one flat box and then folded the sides of box up and added the other flat box on top of it and taped all the sides shut. This custom made box prevented the flowers from getting ruined. I actually transported this boxes from Texas all the way to New York where my brother's wedding was and the backdrop was in perfect condition because the boxes were super sturdy and didn't crush the backdrop. It was super simple to transport. The only thing was I did have to iron the curtains the night before the wedding. Other then that the backdrop was very simple to set up.

I'm actually not sure. I didn't test it out. I just used one of the legs from a second backdrop stand as support for the center, but It might hold at 6ft wide. Its worth a try, but I can't say for certain because I didn't try it out. Sorry. lol

It’s nice but I think if someone is spending a thousand dollars on their backdrop...it’s definitely worth it. I thought your white on white flowers were lost when it came to what type of flower it was. They are nice but for definition, I think your hydrangeas should have been a blush pink at the top. They are a big flower and they were lost within that grouping. I did like the idea though.

Thanks for the feedback. Color combinations are a tough one to figure out, but I do agree that a few of my flowers were lost in the groupings. For next time I will try and pick colors that stand out a little more from the background. Thanks!!
