It's a great idea! But I'd really love to see you play through the WoW Campaign for example, or the upcoming League of Legends Ruined King RPG when it rolls out. Mostly because you focus on cinematic side of things, and WoW campaign has a lot of those as you play through it, additionally I think you'd like the story. Keep doing great work!

Lore time: The orcs are natives of the planet Draenor. They green orc with red eyes in Gul'dan, a very powerful shaman who dabbled in demonic magic and became a warlock. Orcs usually have brown skin but Gul'dan became green after using Fel Magic (demonic magic that glows green). One of the generals of the burning legion (an army of demons) Manoroth (the giant winged demon) promised Gul'dan more power if he can get the orcs to drink the demon's blood. The blood will make them extremely powerful and have raging bloodlust but they would become slaves to the legion. Guldan drank the blood and was offering it to the leader of the orcs Grommash Hellscream. The "green" magic is called in the game Fel magic, a very powerful demonic magic used to bring chaos In the original timeline, the orcs drank the blood and invaded Azeroth though the dark portal as slaves to the legion but then Hellscream broke the curse by killing Manoroth. This expansion takes place in an alternate timeline. Hellscream's son Garrosh (the hooded orc), goes back in time and warns his father about Gul'dan's betrayal and the price for such power while also giving him the schematics to create extremely powerful weapons like the Iron Star (a rotating iron wheel that detonates on impact 5:28) Now the pure orcs rally behind Hellscream as they prepare to open the Dark Portal (the giant structure shown in the end) in order to invade and conquer Azeroth as free orcs and not slaves to the legion.

Very nice and comprehensive recap. Also, if Chris Connor decides to read this, please do yourself a favor and watch one of Blizzards very old Warcraft 3 cinematics "Grom Hellscream VS Mannoroth", where you see the fight Abdo Rizk decribes where Mannoroth is killed in the original warcraft timeline. A very nice callback in Warlord of Draenor cinematic of the pre-explosion fire where Grom Hellscream stands in the fire, and 'times change' when he is saved in this alternate timeline, vs the old one. Look at the cinematics and see for yourself :)

23:13 The gameplay for Warlords of Draenor was actually phenomenal, the initial story and questing was also awesome. The problem was that a lot of endgame content was cut and, since World of Warcraft is an ongoing live game and has a two year expansion release schedule, the content of Warlords of Draenor was too small, stretched out over a two year period.

20:39 Small explanation for this one: 1. From perspective of story: in the original timeline (35 years after) Grommash killed Manoroth as well, but there was nobody to save him, he got hit by the burst caused by the demon's death and died shortly after. Here he got saved by Garrosh (hooded orc), who is actually his son from the future and that's why he knows exactly what to do; 2. From perspective of filming: the angle of camera and how the scene generally looks is a very, very bold reference to W3 cinematic which ended Exodus of the Horde campaign;

the story was Grommash (the guy with the axe) originally drank the blood of the demon, enslaving his people. his son Garrosh finds a way to go back in time ("times change") and act as a prophet, to try and steer the events differently. but another change in that timeline was Grommash had no son, and Gul'dan (they guy offering the drink) drank it himself which is another alter to the original timeline. as for the gameplay. it was a real shame that the Devs threw out so much of the stuff they were working on. and in their haste made a bunch of systems and changes to content that was very rushed, not planned out and very lack luster. most of the time i spent during that expansion was in the garrison talking in trade chat, or hopping from alt character to alt character, raking in rewards a crossed 11 toons.

Iron Timeline Grommash does have a son! That version of Garrosh doesn't show up in WoD, but does appear in the Mag'har Orc Allied Race questline. He becomes an Inquisitor for the Lightsworn, an order of religious fanatics akin to the Scarlet Crusade that are led by Yrel. Even AU Garrosh is a jag. And totally agreed on the gameplay. The devs promised bold and spicy and delivered mild, low-calorie. Huge let-down.

So quick lore things Garrosh (the one with the hood) was the BBEG of the prior patch, but escaped with help from a bronze dragon (they have control over time). The big demon is a Pit Lord, and that liquid that was nearly drank is literally his blood. In the original time line, Grom drank it and the orcs became slaves to the demons. Also in the original time line, when Grom killed Mannoroth (the Pit Lord) he died in the process, to the same shockwave Garrosh tackled him out of this time around

@battlemaster1719

@@Sobotkap in some ways yes but in this case no. This cinimatic requires context to fully appreciate it and understand all it offers. Without knowing the original moment in the story, not watching the Warcraft 3 cinimatic and knowing Garrosh makes things seem less important than they actually are.
@Sobotkap
@Sobotkap 3 жыл бұрын
@@battlemaster1719 you only need to know context to appreciate the LORE side of the cinematic. Or do you think you need to know who is who and what are they doing to appreciate how well they did the lighting effects or how well did they do the animation itself?
@battlemaster1719
@battlemaster1719 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sobotkap that’s not entirely true. Each shot and choice of dialogue and music is based off the story. You don’t need context to say if the animation is good but they will take up time and add extra shots and dialogue for the story and the scene itself. For example, the entire inclusion and reveal of garrosh is completely pointless and a waste of time if you don’t know context. Yet every time he is on screen it’s very important. From when Grom looks back at him showing they had spoken beforehand to when he says “times change” which is a very important line if you know the context. The Warcraft 3 reference and how grom died. Yes these are lore points but you base your shots and scenes off important details. Who knows if the shots were made well if you don’t know why they shot it or how important. Very much of the cinematic can be broken down based off its core objective visual quality but there is way more quality going into how effectively they tell a story through each shot choice, character and dialogue. I hope that makes sense

Chris my man, this video is set right before the orcs first arrived on the planet of azeroth the main planet and setting of warcraft. this is the beggining of the first warcraft game, with one small point, the bald orc is from 35 years in the future making it an alternate timeline situation. the blood is exactly what the potion was. this video plays much in a paralel to a much older cinematic in warcraft 3.

Basically, it's set in alternative past. At the end of mists of pandaria , Garrosh (the hooded orc that waves the signal torch in this cinematic) escapes/time travels to (alternative) past and in this cinematic he alters the past by preventing the orcs from drinking the demon blood that in essence would've "enslaved" them.

As such, there are a lot of elements that are frontloaded to hook the hardcore fans. (Like me.) Thank you for pointing out for me the motion and transition choices. The cinematic is a call back to Warcraft 3's Orc Ending Cinematic (you can check out Warcraft III Reforged's version). Warlords of Draenor is an alternate timeline where Garrosh (the bald orc) went back in time and changed the destiny of orcs by convincing his father Grom (ponytail orc) to not drink the blood of Mannoroth (the big demon). In the original timeline, the orcs drank the blood and became berserker/slaves, and much later did Grom, with Thrall's help (another orc), killed Mannoroth in a similar fashion as this cutscene, but Grom died from the burst of Hellfire from which Garrosh saves him in the WoD cinematic. :)

An explanation for the demon: through lore, the orcs drank the blood of that demon, binding their peoples souls to it. To add to other peoples lore comments: This takes place Add a moment in time when the orcs 1st became green. They drank the blood of Mannoroth (the big green demon, yes his blood was the same as the green goop in the cup at the beginning). When the orcs Track the blood they got a bloodlust turning themselves green as well as their eyes red making them very strong and powerful but being ensaved to Mannoroth. The first to drink was Grom Hellscream (ponytail guy at saying "we will never be slaves") in the OG version of this. Grom's son, Garrosh Hellscream, went back in time (I know its weird, also this expansion really messed with time lines lol) To stop the orcs from drinking the blood in the 1st place so that they could still be strong of their own accord and be conquerors but they wouldn't be slaves to Mannoroth since they'd be free of his blood. The portal that they're building in the background at the very end is the Dark Portal where the orcs crossed from Draenor to Azeroth in the first orcish Horde invasion. So they're still going to invade Azeroth but they're doing it of their own accord this time and not on Mannoroths bidding. Feel free to let me know if there's anything that needs to be cleared out! Love this lore so much and also love the channel keep it up bro!!

Name is Garrosh Hellscream, he traveled to the past to change the fate is the orcs, but the bronze dragon that helped him, send him to the parallel reality. His blood was exactly the drink Gul'dan offered Hellscream to drink. This happens in a timeline where the events have been altered by Hellscream's son who went back in time. Originally, the orcs did drink the blood which gave them immense power but also enslaved the them to the demons. (They also drank again later, some never learn amirite?) Hellscream was saved from this corruption though, and were able to fight this giant demon, a Pit Lord to eventually save his people from this terrible pact. That time, the demon's explosion kills him - he made the ultimate sacrifice. His son knew this already, so he saves him from the pact and the blast of the demon dying the very first time preemptively (he also warned them and made them prepare these weapons, the Iron Stars for the fight) - the explosion was remade shot for shot from the original Warcraft III cinematic piece but now, his son jumps in and saves him. (The son, Garrosh wanted the horde that now, his father controlled and have them be conquerors - but now on their own terms. So, he was still an antagonist.)

The thing is, in the original timeline, Hellscream drank the demon's blood, empowering himself and his clan with the demon's power, but also enslaving his clan to the demon. Later on, he killed the demon who then exploded in that same way and took Hellscream with him. But doing so, he freed his clan from the demons' control. At some later time in the future, Hellscream's son went back in time to that moment, and taught his dad to not drink the demon's blood, (instead bringing the orc clan power by way of mechanical knowledge from the future - that bomb ballista for example, rather than demon infusion) and then saved him as the demon was exploding. This is what happened originally : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otuliKhh3Z2RhI0.html

That big archway under construction will become a portal for the orcs to travel to Azeroth. What strikes me as bizarre is how the orc ever afterward complain that they were persecuted by the native inhabitants of Azeroth rather than embraced with open arms.

20:40 This scene is a reference to Warcraft 3. This cinematic is an alternate Timeline. Originally the orcs drank the blood and became slaves to the Demon until years later in Warcraft 3, where Hellscream confronts Mannoroth and kills him -> kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otuliKhh3Z2RhI0.html In that context, the line "times change" makes more sense too. The one speaking is Hellscreams son... he went to the past and warned his father not to drink the blood.

So the story for this expansion was that garrosh (guy who said times change) who is an ex warchief of the horde and war criminal was sent back in time by a dragon called Kairoz to before the orcs drank the demon blood and became corrupted. Garrosh used this to warn his father Grommosh Hellscream (guy who denys drink) what happens if they drink it and stopped them from being corrupted. After the events which occur in this cinematic they trap guldan (guy who was giving grommosh the drink) and use his dark magic to power the dark portal which is how the orcs get to the world azeroth which is where most events of world of warcraft happen (orcs are basically aliens in wow). They invade azeroth and we push them back to the portal and counter invade them in the orc homeworld of draenor. We free guldan at the start of the expansion closing the portal behind us and stopping the orc entrance to azeroth. Due to having a lot of cut content the expansion itself had very little to do making it the worst expansion imo. But in the little we had we help thrall (other major orc character in wow) kill garrosh in revenge for the war crimes he committed. We also learn freeing guldan caused him to summon loads of demons into draenor and eventually he escapes to azeroth with his own portal to go summon demons there (which causes the next expansion legion)

His blood IS the liquid. Demon blood gives powers at a cost. Garrosh Hellscream went back in time to change the course of history by having his father, Grommash Hellscream refuse the blood. Garrosh is the guy in the hood which is why he gets screen time. The firey death of the demon is an exact scene from an old warcraft 3 cinematic where Grommash kills the same demon in the future but he dies in the fire. Garrosh pulls him out in this timeline. You should check out Wc3 cinematics as well. The oldest but equally dope story building.

In short, this is the expansion of an alternate timeline. In the original story, this was the point of no return for the orcs. Where they drank the demon blood and became slaves to the burning legion. With the interference of a time-travelling orc, they came prepared this time and were free to repeat the same atrocities but of their own volition.

This cinematic holds heavy lore for the WoW players cause we see the history change, Garrosh saving Grommash from getting burned in demons flame. The very old Warcraft cinematic show the fight between same demon and Grommash. The evil is killed, but so is our hero - the classical warriors death. The scene him getting flamed is pretty similar to the old cinematic. Garrosh (the guy with line 'times change') was the very last boss of the WoW expansion before this one. The boss mechanics included the same fire stars. they're supposed to be the next step in engineering, so the young Hellscream didnt just change timeline there by saving the clan leader, he brought technology from future to past and created technically superior enemy to Draenor.

Warlords of Draenor was a split in the timeline. The Orc who asked what it will cost is Grommash Hellscream, who had a son, Garrosh (Orc in hood, says 'Times Change'). In Mists of Pandaria Garrosh tried to make the Horde the dominant superpower by having a 'only the strong' attitude about evertything. As a result both factions took him on, with his Horde and were going to put him on trial for his war crimes, however a bronze dragon (aspect of time, can move through time etc) freed him, took him back to his father Grommash and Garrosh told him everything that would happen if he accepted the Demon's Blood from Gul'Dan (Gul'Dan got the gift first which is why he is green. The blood is from the Pit Lord Mannoroth who is a demon, the big fiery guy that gets an axe to the head), which is why here he rejects the gift and pours it out. This splits the timeline from when he originally drank the blood and enslaved the Orcs into the Legion and this new Timeline where He unites most of the Orcish Clans and they aim to do all the same stuff, but under their own power, without the bloodlust and blood of the demos blood in their veins. In the original Timeline the Orcs follow Hellscream as he is seen as the strongest of all Orcs, the best warrior. So when they all get tainted by the blood we get warcraft, warcraft 2 and warcraft 3. In Warcraft 3 Thrall (Born Go'el) and Grom face down Mannoroth and Grom not only saves Thrall, but with his death frees all of the orcs from the bloodlust as he manages to kill Mannoroth. His axe is named Gorehowl and it is the most iconic weapon in the warcraft universe. WoD was a broken expansion with huge potential, but they sacrificed development of WoD for the Legion expansion.

Also forgot to mention that the way Mannoroth explodes when he dies happened in the original time line and Grom, much like you see here, was going to take the blast to defend those behind him (This is how he saved Thrall in WC3) but in the new timeline, his Son Garrosh saves him. Grom is the largest point of contention between the Horde and Alliance. The Orcs see Grom as a saviour type, that while he may have condemned them to be enslaved by Mannoroth he also gave his life to free them all. He fought against a possession none could stand against and won, he not only broke the demon's hold in his last moments to show they could, he saved them all at the cost of himself. To the Alliance he is an orc that laid waste to many Alliance and the Night Elves, he even killed a demi-god called Cenarius because of the strength the possession and bloodlust could give him when enraged. They demand the Horde do no honour him, the Horde basically tell them to fuck off. As a result in game there is a location called 'Demon's Fall Canyon' with a monument to Grom Hellscream

A little backstory: in the original timeline, the warlock orc, Gul'dan, lead the orcs to invade azeroth from their own world, dreanor, which is dying from corrupted magic. Gul'dan tricked the orcs by making a magical contract with the orcs using fell magic (the drinking of the green liquid included), same magic that makes their planet dying. He and his master, the Pit Lord (the big monster), turned the orcs into their servants and used them to invade azeroth. In this expansion and cinematic, however, things change. The bald orc, Garrosh, comes from the future to warns the orcs about the schemes that Gul'dan tried to pulls. Gromm, the long-haired orc, listened to him and led the orcs instead to destroy Gul'dan and Manoroth, the Pit Lord. He succeeds and the orcs are free from enslavement. They still ended up invading azeroth, but as free men.

The Pronunciation is Drae-Nor, and the liquid the green orc was trying to feed him was indeed that Demons blood, which would bind any who drink it to the creature. This is a alternate timeline that is occurring cause the other orc that singles the attack was from the current timeline, where They Did Drink that blood. I would recommend you Watch the Warcraft 3 cinematic Hellscream vs Mannoroth, it does help explain some of what occurs back 17 years ago in the current story of the game. You really should catch up to where we are as well cause there are 2 cinematics left, do not watch the "Battle For Azeroth" Cinematic. Watch Legion Next and then proceed to "Battle for Azeroth: Varok Saurfang’s Mak’gora" it contains the Opening Cinematic within its video and it is a long one and then watch the Shadowlands.

This is definitely a great cinematic yes, but it’s very hard to appreciate how good it is if you don’t know the backstory of it. Most of all how they re-created the original explosion were Hellscream is supposed to die but is instead saved. The green stuff in the beginning was the demons blood and in the original timeline he drank it and cursed his entire race. Watch a five minute video explaining this and you will really appreciate the cinematic.

Simply put, the guy who waved the torch at the beginning, and grabbed the axe to throw back to the leader...... Is the leader's Son from the future. the Leader is nammed Grommash Hellscream, and the son is Garrosh Hellscream. WoW has some interesting twists and turns; one of them was that Garrosh turned bad in the future, got defeated and imprisoned, he escaped and went back in time to ensure his father never died in the flames of that big dead guy (you see him tackle Grommash out of the way) so that his race would live on and conqueror the world, and universe. because in present time were Garrosh was bad, his race isn't all that powerful anymore.

Explanation of the cinematic: In the original timeline you had Grom Hellscream who Gul'dan successfully tricked into drinking the blood of that big demon and getting stronger (but also corrupted which fun fact turns the orcs green). Eventually Gul'dan would get himself killed while the big demon dude (Mannoroth) would be killed by Grom Hellscream and his buddy Thrall and in the old cinematic showing them defeat Mannoroth you see Grom Hellscream be killed just as Mannoroth is dying by a burst of flame (important later). THIS CINEMATIC is an alternate timeline since Grom's son, Garrosh Hellscream, went back in time to just before his father got tricked by Gul'dan. Garrosh (whose the guy wearing the hood which he takes off near the end) warns his father about Gul'dan's plan and gets him prepared to deal with the situation. Gul'dan offers him the corrupted blood drink and Grom isn't having any of it. Gul'dan's probably pretty confused at this point because he's fairly certain Grom was supposed to drink the blood and become corrupted. Mannoroth reveals himself from his hiding place and is like "Really, you're not going to drink it?" Then Garrosh and the other orcs launch their attack on Gul'dan and Mannoroth. Gul'dan despite being super powerful puts up little fight on account of being hit by a catapult it would seem, then they use the weapons they prepared for dealing with Mannoroth. Just like in the original timeline, Mannoroth is defeated by Grom landing a decisive blow. HOWEVER, unlike the previous timeline, the burst of flame from Mannoroth as he is dying does not kill Grom because even though it looks a lot like the original cinematic from the original timeline, instead you see Garrosh (likely knowing this attack was coming) dive to save his father bringing both of them out of harm's way... Garrosh, now having traveled back in time to save his father and most of the other orcs (though not all are corrupted in the original timeline), is ready to return to the current/original timeline with a new army to lead and to do this he begins construction of the giant portal which you see at the end of the cinematic... Oh yeah, another thing I think I missed was killing Mannoroth is what removes the corruption... The orcs are still green, but for the most part they get rid of the whole personality warping aspects of the corruption that make you all angry and such...

There is so much context in this one to have the full experience. Watch kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJOJgLVn0Z3MZJs.html to get the original timeline story of the death of mannoroth (the demon). You'll see the parallels and the diversions from that one. His blood is the supposed drink and in the original timeline the orcs did drink it to empower themselves and attack azeroth. They shake off the control it had over them with the death of mannoroth. In this timeline they refuse this "gift" at the recommendation of hellscream's (main dude) son (hooded dude) who had traveled back in time after some quite complicated other stuff. The shot of starting from birdseye and moving up is likely also a reference to the topdown-RTS Warcraft 3, in which the story was told. For those in the know it was quite an amazing way to lead into the story at the time. I didn't play but watched the cinematic of course.

What happed here is that the bald orc was the leader of the playable Horde faction UNTIL the end of Mists of Pandaria. Important to note the horde is diverse, full of blood elves, undead humans, trolls, goblins, pandaren, but Garrosh only thought of orcs as “his people”. He shut out the other leaders, treated the non orcs as canon fodder, and eventually the Horde turned on him. He was put on trial for his war crimes, including magically destroying Jaina’s city of Theramore, when she had always maintained peace and diplomatic relations. He escaped with help from a scheming time travelling dragon, whose idea was to make an Infinite horde by going to many many parallel worlds and recruiting the orcs over and over and over again, to match the infinite size of the Burning Legion, the demons. This failed. The very first world Garrosh got to, a parallel Draenor decades ago, he murdered his rescuer, set himself up as a prophet, and convinced his parallel father to lead his people to conquest, building another Dark Portal, that you saw at the end of the cinematic. When it’s turned on, it hijacks our dark portal, and they come pouring through to invade. We unite to send forces through to end the threat. We destroy the Draenor portal, the big one, so big troop movements cut off, but we have to say in that world to fight the demons, fight Gul’dan, fight Garrosh.

When Manonoroth was about to blow up/die. That one Orc(Garrosh Hellscream) jumped and saved his dad (Grommash Hellscream) from the blast. It's quite important actually, cus this happened before already, but in just another place and in another timeline. Thrall ( another very important Orc in Horde lore) and Grommash ( yes, the same one) killed Manonoroth before(in the timeline it was a actually after this event you see in the video :-D )and the same blast killed Grommash. In that timeline Grommash is dead and Thrall took his place as a second Garosh's father and told him the story. And that's how Garrosh knew he has to save his dad from the blast. You can watch that video if you wanna have it connected, it's a Warcraft 3 video. Just Google Thrall and Gromm killed Mannoroth.
