Creature Comforts

8 жыл бұрын

Nick Park’s first Oscar winning film. A series of interviews with the animals in an English zoo. Used to open spaces and sunnier climes, they comment on accommodation, diet and of course - the English weather.

Nick Park’s Creature Comforts took the classic documentary style and applied it to the lives of wild animals and pets, matching a cast of clay characters with human voices to charming effect. Originating from Nick’s 1989 Academy Award®-winning short film, Creature Comforts was unique for using unscripted vox-pop interviews with the British public in a stop motion series that has become an Aardman classic.
The success of the short film led to two TV series, which broadcast on ITV, and an iconic series of commercials for the Electricity Board’s ‘Heat Electric’ campaign. Creature Comforts also went across the pond to the USA where the unique format was used once again to tell real-life stories from people in America. The claymation characters portray very human traits and contemplate absurdities of the universe such as, ""Do bald eagles ever feel self-conscious?"" and ""What makes pigs feel sexy?""

Oh my God, I can’t believe this is actually on here, I was just looking this up by chance. I first saw this on Nickelodeon a long time ago, and they played it for a little bit between shows. My mom and I used to laugh at the mountain lion - “We don’t like potatoes, we like meat, fresh MEAT”. 😂😂😂 Thank you so much for posting this

I send this to my College roommate every year on his birthday because in 1992 we must have watched it 300 times. There are so many great parts. My favorite is facial expressions the polar bear parents give every time Andrew starts talking! Love it!

This worked so well it seems because modern city life for the majority of the humans living in them feels a LOT like living in an enclosure in a zoo. That's exactly what I feel like where I live, it's exactly like a confined and artificial habitat/enclosure and there is no escape from it. I totally identify, which is why I love this short so much. I think I actually appreciate it now even more so today than ever before, that's not a good thing when it comes to how I feel about where I live. It's exactly the same feeling. Like an animal in an artificial habitat in a zoo. I live in Tampa Florida. Take it from me it's not worth visiting for a vacation.

I knew about this short but I actually had never seen it and now it has become probably one of my favorite animated shorts ever...also on a more geekish side note, now I love a lot more "Wallace & gromit in The project Zoo" because many of the designs of the zoo animals are based on this short... what a great tribute to Nick park and Aardmans origins...

Oh my god! I was a baby when I saw this the last time and that was over 20 years ago. It was on my Wallace and Gromit: A Grande Day Out video cassette, I couldn't remember the title of it for the life of me all these years. And yet here I am today over 20 years later, typing out a comment on KZfaq about how much I enjoyed this short clip and that it's still a memory in my mind after all these years. Short clips like these stay with you for life. Thank you so much for uploading this and making me smile today

This is actually one of the first things I remember seeing on a TV screen. Probably around '92-'93 and on video cassette. I could still remember the upcoming chuckles (turtle heading the beach ball, bird pulling the others beak), would have my little toddler ass in hysterics.
