I had 2 late payments on capital one QS back in 2016 with a 2k limit. They denied all request for limit increase up until 2023. I was using them as a slush fund for balance transfers to other cards and they increased the limit to 15k after the 3rd transfer. So I did the same with the other QS card I had and sure enough after 3 balance transfers they upped then 1100 limit to 3.1k

How often do you get automatic credit increases

It all depends, usually its happens once a year or it may not happen at all. Theses usually happening with heavy usage and updated income
