This was perfection. It brought back many memories of when my family and I would attend the Pow Wow in the Kumeyaay nation with our dear family-friend who was a retired tribal member. The earth literally shaking from the power of the voices and drums, the stories being told throughout each song and dance as well as the strong bonds amongst each other. Not a single spark of hatred or judging glance. This music represents that. The pow wow was the last time we spent time together before they passed on. Miss you always and thank you for all the wisdom and smiles you have brought upon us. Eyaay ahan.

Thank you for your post, I'm sorry for your loss, but as time moves on we suffer hardships and grief. It molds us and those that continue to walk forward will continue to better the world and If you want, keep your family blood line going on. Stay strong my friend, for the native americans have not yet gone, and you are an example of one of them.

Its interesting that this is the only civ that fully maintains the vocals motifs of the ancient era throughout the entire game. Other civs if they have vocals they are often replaced with modern instruments (Medieval Era Russia Kalinka vs Industrial Era) which shows how proud they are of their heritage even after the oppressive treatment from colonists and forced adaptation into a rapidly changing world, that they will never lose touch with their roots.
@diogogouveia41083 жыл бұрын
Many civs keep the vocals, in fact I think only Ethiopia leaves them behind? As far as I remember anyway. Still, I like your interpretation anyway.
@thetacoman96572 жыл бұрын
Some civs also gain vocals in later eras, such as the Ottoman industrial theme or Russia's atomic one. But I agree that the vocals in this one feel the most proudly defiant

I think the cree empire in the game is a cop off of the iron confederacy so there may have been some Sioux in the "cree" empire.
@tinyjester273 жыл бұрын
@@maddoxbellrose7679 I am sure there was. Elders spoke of not just trade with the Iron Confederacy, but coordinated military action on both sides of the US/Canada border. The Cree best fighters were the Plains Natives. Sitting Bull even escaped to the safety of Canada before both Governments' started c racking down on them. One of their reasons? They "claimed" there were British Indians among the ranks and Montanans feared from attacks on both sides.

The industrial theme is like in an alternate timeline where the Cree pulled a move similar to the Japanese in the later half of the 19th century. Like they modernized( be it through science, espionage, plain old copying) so quick in the 1810’s they were actually formidable and formed a nation state, skipping over 1500 years of development. Arguably more impressive than the Japanese modernization on our own timeline. That premise would be an Interesting book/TV seres.

A pound was a sort of manmade enclosure resembilng a corral, where the buffalo were trapped and slaughtered. According to tradition, Poundmaker could entice a lead buffalo to lead her herd into the pound by drumming and singing a special song. Source: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poundmaker

For medieval, they should have referenced Metis and Lithuanian cultures, since these cultures were late to be Christianized. Also, Inuit Sacred Music. That's an interesting before and after gauge, where before Christianity, the music is stone aged, after Christianity, it's brought up to speed with the modern era. It's a good prototype.

@@awesomeODST Well I don't know how real Cree music sounded so i can't say if the producer did a good/bad job in making it authentic. What i was refering to as bad was the stoneage version of the song. The tribal drum is wet and gross sounding. The harmony is dissonant and what feels random. The "vibrato" (unsure if that is the correct term) they have in the song is so badly intonated and horrid sounding. It works in the later eras where there is a harmonic backround. But without anything else it sounds like a speciall class music preformance. They also tone down the "vibrato" alot in the later eras. Futher cementing my belifes that it was made to sound unmusical. To summerize it's an overinviting song with a basic meldoy with dissonat acompenying harmony. There is nothing in the backround to justify the broken harmony. It is not a good track for backround music. It's fluctuations in volume is extremly anyoing too. In the end it comes down to musical preference. If this is how their music sounded in reality, I feel very sorry for them. Is it strange that I don't enjoy it?
