That line totally caught me off guard the first time i watched it, and got a great reaction from the theatre audience. We don't really get a lot of moments in the franchise where Rocky boasts about his accomplishments.... such a great moment!

This conversation is a lot different than the first one they had in Creed in the jail cell. Adonis is a lot more composed even though he feels pain and anger. There's love and respect for Rock now. And there's maturity. This is a good scene.

The scene in jail is a lot different because Adonis was hurt by Rocky saying "we're not family." I understand Rocky was trying to push him away to save him but all that did was hurt him more. So glad they reconciled.

Exactly. Rocky is Stallone’s greatest creation. Stallone and Rocky are so intertwined, that’s why it’s so easy for him to slip back into the role of Rocky. I think it’s a lot harder for him to be in movies like the Expendables or even some of the Rambo movies

What I like about this scene is that Donnie pushes his temper and pride aside finally admits he was afraid. Not afraid of Drago necessarily. But afraid that he couldn’t live up to his father’s legacy. Gives him a lot more depth since for most of the first Creed movie, he tried to hide his heritage.

I like how Mary Anne still sent Rocky a photo of Adonis newborn, proves that he's been a great father figure to him and a good friend to the whole family. As much as Rocky loves and cares for Adonis like his own son, even if their not blood related. Sure Mary can't forgive him after Apollo death, but she knows that hanging on to the past hurts more than moving forward. Something that Rocky has always mentioned in different ways. Yet, as life goes on, we can all agree: that good friends are hard to come by. Especially, good friends that we consider as family.

Something I've been thinking about for awhile is they made Donnie's backstory more complicated than it needed to be. What was the point of making Donnie born out of wedlock? In Rocky II, Apollo stated in his office while talking to his team about fighting Rocky again that "People have been insulting my kids my at school." We never see or hear any other mention of his kids and considering Maryanne adopted Donnie at a young age, she raised him so there was literally no reason to have him born out of wedlock. It changes the story in no way.
@mfdixon1985
@mfdixon1985 3 жыл бұрын
I think they wanted Donnie to have it kind of rough when he was a kid. It's less likely that Apollo's legitamite son would have. Also, a big part of the movies are Donnie wanting to forge his own path. Remember, he didn't even fight as Creed at first. Again, easier to create drama, since the Creed name was part of what got him that big break.
@themaddogofcrenshaw7367
@themaddogofcrenshaw7367 3 жыл бұрын
@@mfdixon1985 That's not a good reason because besides being in a youth facility he didn't have it rough. Mary-Anne raised Donnie with wealth and a full education.It's not like she adopted Donnie when he was teenager, he was still a child when she found him and from what we know he was naturally a fight but he taught himself how to box from watching tape on Apollo. He could've done that as Apollo's legitimate son. I could understand your theory if Donnie was older and there was some actual information on his mother but besides the name Johnson he recognized Mary-Anne as his mother. He never spoke about his actual mother. They only reason it seems he even used the Johnson name was out of spite of Apollo.
