Creed - "Say I" (RARE debut never before seen footage).
There's always a defining moment in the history of every band. In my mind, Creed's performance this late night in August 1997 was theirs. The first couple of singles off "My Own Prison" had been receiving heavy radio play and you could feel the momentum building locally and for the first time, nationally. As Creed's debut album was flying off the shelves, the band was already working hard on material for "Human Clay".
The local venue where Creed usually played sold out in minutes so it was decided to move the show outside, into a large parking garage underneath a McDonald's of all places. Nobody was to realize what would happen that night. A small 3 foot tall stage was built the day before, little to no security the night of the show and a couple thousand Creed hungry fans had gathered early with great anticipation.
This is the first public performance of "Say I". It was the last song of the night, well past 2am and the police were threatening to shut it all down. There was no standing room whatsoever and no barricade between the crowd and the stage. The only place I could find to shoot the show was right on the stage trying to be as discreet as possible behind the stack of speakers.
Unfortunately, the guy hired to run the sound was not cooperative. I was unable to multi-track the show and all I had was an awful, distorted sound track recorded right off the camera mic. Looking back on it now, it seems to add to the realness of that night, much like an old scratched up 45 vinyl record.
The performance that night was the most intense and hard rocking show that I had ever seen from Creed. There was electricity in the air and you could feel the intensity of the crowd. The stage almost fell over several times from the eager and rowdy crowd pushing forward just to get an inch closer to the band. Yet once the show was over we all knew that something very magical had just happened and this band was going a very long way.

The end riff shows how unique Mark really is even at his beginning. Don’t really know of anyone playing anything like that back then. He seemed to take bits and pieces of all guitarists and make his own style. My favorite guitarist of all time.

Creed did small venues late in 1997 and early 1998 at bars, usually University and College towns. They then started to hit the big venues. I was so fortunate to see them at the Crowbar on March 4, 1998 at Penn State University! The nightclub held 150 people and was packed. Unbelievable what a showcase. One of my favorite concerts. Scott hit all the notes and rocked the house. The venue looked exactly like this video! Such an amazing performance!

From 1997 through 2005 I'd probably seen concerts from at least 100 different bands/singers that were on the radio. Creed fucking rocked in their live performances their first couple years. . By the tour for the 3rd album though, Stapp's pretentiousness really dragged it down.

I saw them on their reunion tour in 2009. Had pit tickets, on the floor and was front row. Completely worth it. The band was spot on and Scott absolutely owned the stage with a powerful voice. It's sad that he still struggled later on because that tour seemed like they had a renewed spirit. Glad he seems much better and healthy now.

For the most part, I agree. I was a huge Creed fan and I still love the first three albums. I even have Scott's first solo album and the first Alter Bridge album. Still great listens to this day. I don't know about a reunion album though. If you didn't know, but I'm sure you do, they reunited and did a fourth album, "Full Circle" in 2009. I have it as well, but it just doesn't hit like the first three albums did. It was good, but in my opinion, it wasn't as memorable. I can still quote every song and will still listen to the first three albums from opening to closing track without a skip. As for the fourth album, it has some really good songs. But I've never been able to do a full-through listen. I think all the guys are just in different places musically.

I saw Creed 4x from 1997 to 1999. The first time I saw them was at Bogarts in Cincinnati in April of '97. The crowd was so amped up to see them. The P.A. played Pearl Jam's "Daughter" while we all waited and the entire crowd sang along. It was a beautiful moment. We were crazy excited to see this new band. I've never seen anything like it before or since. The crowd booed off the first 2 opening bands and threw stuff at them until they ended their sets early out of frustration. Then Creed came out and did an amazing set. Best Creed show out of the 4 I saw. Smaller venue for the first one, then pretty much arenas after that.

The Nimble Ninja All members are in a great place today with each other and they are doing there own things! I just saw Scott last year at Bogart’s in Cincinnati, Ohio 2019! This year he’s going on 6 years in recovery! Look up Bogart’s Cincinnati, Ohio and look for my name I put up the whole concert! He’s no bigger than here, he runs 6 to 8 miles daily and still put on a great rock show he sounds amazing! What I wouldn’t do to see Creed with a new album and tour! I hope down the road! He does new music and a mix of classic Creed! I hope you check it out🥰 He also shares his struggles with mental health and addiction and lifts up fan’s at his show’s and he is so down to earth and gracious to his fan’s at his meet and greets! He was so great and did a shoutout to my son last year at Boardman, Oh 2019 to his favorite song Overcome! He has a great band and his wife Jaclyn is just as wonderful! I’am grateful for the shoutout he did and he even talk to him after the show about my son’s struggles! That to is up if you want to check it out! I saw Creed back in the day and I love them too!

One thing I know, Creed had a huge weight on their shoulders to sink or swim in the music industry... and because of Scott (luckily) they succeeded beyond any misconception and blew people away. This music scene in Florida was the best place they could have been at the time. It is simply amazing of the talent this band had, his range is far beyond Vedder's sonically, (I have analyzed his voice on a spectrum graph in accordance with a college experiment in sound) unfortunately due to science, Scott takes the cake in this case (in my study). I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan too...however. I don't think the band realized what they had in a singer at the time. He can strangely "grasp" his control extremely well over a microphone and control amplitude so naturally. Very few people get this range, it's arguably way beyond most singers I have analyzed, especially according to this particular video. If there is more, would you please post Ron, I beg you. This is very incredible that he could reach this range, I'm aware and sorry he can't anymore. This is excellent work, that should be known on the talent as a "whole", Creed sonically possessed as the real deal early on.

Wish I could have been there... Too bad I would have been only 6 years old. My favorite band.

This is just wicked. The pretend hate for Creed that's gone unchecked is purely because they're have a feral deep primal sound. People are embarrassed internally by the true nature of humanity. Stapp puts it forth with such ease. The entire band is obviously talented on supernatural levels.
