Hey Everyone! Well, here it is. The video that didn't want to be made. I had a heck of a time getting this thing created. The sled was easy compared to the video. I lost footage, got a new phone and lost all of my edits. Had sync issues, you name it.
Anyway, the sled has been an amazing addition to my table saw and I set the plans up so that you can easily adjust any dimensions that you want to make it work for your saw. My saw is the Saw Stop 3hp PCS.
Remember to please comment below and ask me some questions as i will address the important ones in my follow up video!
Thanks again for your patience on this one and see you soon!
Casey

Great sled. I like the left side 45 degree concept. If you make a secondary stop block for the left side that overhangs the 45 degree cut by an inch or so it will give you enough adjustment to set a stop on the offcut side of the 45 degree cut. Then there is no measuring to make sure the bevel is the same. Just slide it to the stop block and every bevel will be identical.
@CReevesMakes
@CReevesMakes Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jay! Yes I actually figured that out after doing a couple of boards quickly saw the ease of using the block on the off side of the bevel. 👍🏻 always learning and improving!

Nice work Casey!!! I really like the way you designed so that you can adjust the kerf and use it for different size blades. My sled was always set up for a thin kerf blade, but one day I used a regular kerf blade so now I'm stuck with that bigger kerf. Nice Job!!

A lot of cleverness and thought here, Casey, and ultimately what looks to be a very practical design. Function and fine finish, both! And you've made the inevitable trade-offs with great consideration. Well done. I've bounced around on a design for my own sled -- and I think I may just have found the winner.

Nice sled design. I really like the left side 45 degree bevel feature by using the single miter rail under the sled. While some may like the laminate surface, I actually don't and find it too slippery. A well sanded and poly'd birch plywood surface is best for me and provides just the right amount of grip vs. ability to adjust the part being cut. On the underside it would be perfect to slide on the saw top.

A+ on fit, form and features! Need to go back and see exactly how the sliding kerf works. Only think I would add would be long handle holes on the left side. My sled just got them and I'll never look back. One feature that I'm dying to see is a micro adjustment feature for the front sled. William NG got me to a 1/1000 but over time things change with wood. Absolutely the best design, as long as the adjustable kerf does not add errors or trouble.

Wish I would have watched this video before I built my sled. I have most of the features that you have but did it differently. Had I known about the Kreg slides I wouldnt have felt so uncomfortable with a single runner sled. I was concerned that there would be play and even some binding with only one runner. This forced me to eliminate the sliding zero clearance feature. I made mine with HDPE throat plates that are removable for different width kerf. Have the t-track on top as well. My blade guard is basically a box with a Plexiglas top so you can see the blade come through the fence and a 1/8 inch steel plate on back to ensure the blade never reaches your hand. Wrecking the blade is a small price to pay. I will send pics if your interested but it really doesnt have anything over your design. Thanks for the excellent video and this enticed me to subscribe. Will definitely be watching for your videos. Paul

This is an awesome sled. I work in a millwork shop and my only concern is when we laminate only 1 side of a sheet good, they bow because they are not balanced. Would like to know how yours holds up and see if it stays flat. Otherwise, this is an amazing sled and will be making one myself.

The black adds a nice contrast as opposed to the wood on wood look!!👍🏻👍🏻

I agree! Much cooler looking and not bright when shooting images or video. Thanks!

Well thought out. Excellent execution. My 2 cents is that next time you use your mask, change the particulate filters for the recommended 3M vapor filters

Been watching for a while now amongst other great woodworkers. I love how you have really met form and function in your workshop not just the sled. I was wondering what the majority of items you make with not just the sled but in your workshop?

Thank you very much Paul. I mostly make furniture for our home and then I mix in shop projects and some crafty gifts around the holidays. It varies greatly but the mobile (casters) tools make it easy to adapt to almost anything I need to do. Thanks for watching!
