Excellent verbal articulation. So easy to understand what you are saying. A rarity. Thank you for the input and knowledge. Going to look for you other videos.

Hi Instead of grabbing the mane you can press your hands into either side of the horses neck being careful not to put your weight on your hands. Instead feel like you are pushing backwards to keep your weight centered over the saddle and your leg position. Hope this helps :)

@AlbertaJumperGirl Thank you for your positive feedback! Do try it over ground poles first until you get confident and relaxed. Then work gradually over small to bigger fences. : )

@AppyArt I would practice all 3 techniques over a ground pole at the the walk, trot, and canter and when you are very confident and you horse is too, start with small jumps. Have fun!

@Pintomare11 Hi I am draw to the part you said when I ride with a longer rein my pony refuses. I would practice with a ground pole on the flat to see if you can get your pony to jump on whatever length you like. If the pony has to be held to the jump, I wonder how much it wants to jump or that it may in fact be trying compensate for your shoulder. Too answer your question, all the movements require a free range of shoulder motion. A long release will be the most still.

Which release has the least motion? I recently injured my shoulder and have a very limited range of motion. I've just been riding with a longer rein, but my pony tkaes advantage and refuses. I've been jumping for a while and am quite comfortable with jumping.

How do you grab mane and still do a long crest release?
