NOBODY LIKES TO SEE SOMETHING COME BACK WITH THE SAME ISSUE IT HAD THE LAST TIME YOU SAW IT. THIS IS MINE. TRUCK WONT START WITHOUT STARTING FLUID. THE GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER CONTINUOUSLY CLICKS. I THINK IT IS ALSO LOOSING FUEL PRIME. WAS IT A BAD PART? A BAD DIAGNOSIS? OR A BAD INSTALL?

It's unreal how some people want the image of driving a truck like that but can't even keep up on basic maintenance such as a pair of batteries.

One of my trucks is a 6.9 powered 86 F-250. Only way these IDI’s will run worth a crap is with a tight fuel system and good batteries. You can’t expect to drive an old rig like that and not do any preventative maintenance on it. When the person working on your truck tells you it needs fixed you should probably take the advice. Enjoyed the video.

I learned (the hard way) leaks in the fuel return system can cause hard starting on these IDI diesels. Apparently, they're kind of notorious for that. There's an inexpensive kit that includes all the little fuel return hoses and clamps connecting injectors. Installation made my old skoolie fire up in half a revolution.

I’m sure I’m not alone in being frustrated when people that trust you to repair their equipment, don’t listen to sound advice. I’ve never seen you do unnecessary work and yet they don’t listen when you recommend something that will ultimately keep the equipment from needing to be repaired. Enjoyed your troubleshooting and thanks again.

Probably stupid question, probably looked at it and you know for sure... but, i have to ask, is that module 100%, without shadow of a doubt, meant for that particular engine and glowplug set? I'm asking purely because i've had a similar (to be read: does the same thing) thing on an agricultural unit, and everyone, everyone from the seller to the manufacturer's code told us the part was for the right unit, but when you checked the actual part, it wasn't rated for that circuit and therefore from a different setup. Just sayin' that might be the wrong part if you fixed it, burnt it, fixed it again and it came to you crispy again. That said, if i'm wrong (and i might be) if that plastic doesn't make a crunch when you cut a shaving off with a box cutter, then it's normal plastic, not rated for high temperatures. It should be glass reinforced plastic. just my 2 cents, which again, might be wrong cause i've never worked on that engine. :)

@thaddeustroyer
@thaddeustroyer 5 ай бұрын
I was wondering the same. Now, a fix could be that a bakealite isolator be fashioned between the plastic and resistor metal to stop the melting of the plastic. That "might" fix the problem but still be the wrong part for the job. Could be a work around? .@cesmith4566

the newer gasoline engines are going to direct injection guess it works sorta like diesels do but have noticed they give a lot of trouble with build up on valves and they have a system to use walnut shells to blast down the intake to clean the valves. do diesels have this problem because have never heard of them having the problem. and do you have any idea why the gasoline engines have the problem?
