-- Basic Concepts
Video aims to introduce basic concepts of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing.
Covers creating a key pair, defining security groups, choosing regions, and billing.
--Free Tier
AWS offers a free tier for the first 12 months after registration.
Certain machines with 1GB of RAM can be used and tested for free.
Requires a credit card for account creation, but will not be charged if usage is within the free tier limit.
--Creating an AWS Account
Go to aws.amazon.com and log in or create a new account.
Two types of accounts are offered: AWS account and AWS Educate account.
Educate accounts have access to additional features and $100 in AWS credits.
--Creating a Key Pair
Key pairs are used to access machines on AWS.
Can be created under "Security Groups" in the EC2 Dashboard.
Choose a region and download the key pair file in .pem format for Mac or .ppk format for Windows.
--Defining Security Groups
Security groups define which ports are open for incoming and outgoing traffic.
Can be created under "Security Groups" in the EC2 Dashboard.
Be careful not to open unnecessary ports to prevent security breaches.
--Creating an Elastic IP Address
Elastic IP address is a fixed IP address that doesn't change even if the machine is stopped.
Can be created under "Elastic IPs" in the EC2 Dashboard.
Creating an EC2 Instance
Choose a machine type and region under "Launch Instance" in the EC2 Dashboard.
Be careful to choose a machine that falls within the free tier limit.
Set up security groups and associate the key pair.
Launch the instance and wait for it to be ready.
Access the instance using the key pair through a terminal or PuTTY.
--Installing a Web Server
Install Apache web server using the command "sudo apt-get install apache2".
Test the server by accessing the public IP address on a web browser.
