Cribb Island, or "Cribbie" as it was affectionately known, was a coastal suburb north of Brisbane that overlooked Moreton Bay.
During the roaring 1920s, Cribb Island was a thriving beach destination for Brisbane locals. In the 1960s, the suburb was an early stomping ground for one of the world's most successful musical artists. On 5th June 1980, it was closed down, controversially cleared out and later erased from Brisbane's maps to make way for a new airport.
44 years have passed since the closure of Cribb Island. This video provides a detailed history of Brisbane's forgotten suburb.
Much of this documentary is based on "Cribb Island: As it Was", written by James William Jackson. Special thanks to Roy Jackson.
