Well apparently test is the best format...its got all the 3 flavours and even though t20 cricket is interesting...but 2 strong teams playing test cricket will make it a thousand times more interesting than t20

It's one of the best documentary based on cricket. And almost every team is covered in that series including episode featuring India, England, pakistan, sri lanka. How the system works off seasons is that there will be toured matches for example India tour of Australia where the Indian team will play away from home in Australia. They will compete in ALL 3 formats in that tour and the number of games may vary asper the cricket boards of both countries

The best way to learn cricket is to play it, incorporating the various rules gradually, therefore increasing the complexity and making it more and more interesting.

Where T20(20 overs) took 3 hours, ODI(50 overs) took around 6 hours and with First Class/Test took around 6 hours per day of play.

The One Day format originated in Australia, TV Mogul Kerry Packer who owned the 9 network was looking for a form of the game to boost ratings; and so a 'rebel game was set up, using an Australian team playing an International team with players from the other Commonwealth Countries. Eventually, the game was recognized by the ICC; and became the first Limited Overs Format.

It's called test cricket for a reason. Let's take opening batsmen. Their job is to not get out early, wear the ball down a bit and try to score a few runs. A very good opener can score 150-200 over a day and a half. That's being switched on, 100% concentration for 8 hours then having to switch straight back on again the next morning. And fast bowlers, absolutely destroying their knees and shoulders for hours and hours. It's a tough game, a proper test of skill and determination.

Test cricket is for puritans. For those of us who grew up playing the sport, from very young and is still the best form of the game.

Having a game end in a thrilling draw after five days is something that no other sort has!

The three types of cricket are very different. A Test match is a war played like a chess tounament. A One Day match is a war played like a draughts (checkers) game. T20 is a cage fight.

Test cricket last up to 90 overs and couple of breaks (longer - lunch break and shorter ones - tea break) each day but can go beyond 90 overs for a specific time tho.

Good question about tickets - you would buy a ticket for a certain day. In the recent Boxing Day test in Melbourne I bought tickets for Days 1-3.

The thing with cricket is that you can dodge the balls if you want provided that you don't get out by ball knocking off those bails, but at a loss of no. of balls you can play as there are limited overs and you have to make a really good score or chase to win. People only do that if it's a ball that could hurt them or if it's unplayable and could make them loose their wicket

Test match has five days, 8 hours a day with three sessions. They have tea and lucnh break. Whereas One day match is 50 overs for each side, 50 overs take 4-5 hours. After one team is done playing 50 overs than there is inning break.

A day is last for 8hours and a ticket can be for a day or you could by a ticket for 5 days thanks. The world still plays the Test , One day International, and T20 and all of them have a World Cups and this has got the excitement back in to Test Cricket too thanks.

In a test match it's almost 8 hours /day .provided 1 lunch break and 1 tea break. And a 50-50 match gets done in 7.5 hours normally.

Even modern games before the arrival of T20 format took half a day at most starting at 7.30am and finishing around noon on Saturday or Sunday for keen cricketers. Not many people can devote that much of time to this sport in addition with training during week days. T20 essentially condensed the time to play typically no more than 3 hours. Catches may only be done with bare hands otherwise you concede 5 runs to the opposing team and the batsman won't be out. The exception is the wicket keeper who has gloves for fielding the ball that the striking batsman leaves behind or can't hit. The first international matches were played between Canada and the USA in the 1800s. Fastforward to the 1960s Canada had a chance to join test cricket and gain official status this was turned down by the the Canadian governing cricket body at that time. A lack of foresight if you ask me as this limited Canada's chance to full participation in all varieties of the game i.e. (test, one day and T20s) and thus a further decline of funding and interest to the sport in Canada. Canada every now and then have stitched up a good enough team to play in the world cups in 1979 and 2003.

T20 is great to watch and is undoubtedly exciting, but like mentioned, it is a simplification of the sport. This makes it much more accessible for people new to the sport. But the more you watch and understand the intricacies and strategy involved, the more appreciation you gain for the longer form of the game. Test cricket is all about strategy and 'the long game.' T20 is like playing draughts (checkers) but test cricket is like playing chess.
