Cricket was Americas national sport until the civil war began..It was particularly strong in the south..After the war,so many people died that the clubs slowly folded one by one as not enough players due to fighting deaths.

Actually the real reason as to why Baseball is so popular in the USA is bcoz Cricket Clubs in USA used Baseball to popularise Cricket but it had the opposite effect of Popularizing Baseball, instead of Cricket.

Fans wouldn’t particularly care how hot it might have been, Cricket being a summer sport , and to see the worlds best professional players playing for the First Time in years , that would have been the real highlight…..in a lot of countries the temperature can be 40 degrees Celsius and players and fans would still watch it….. great to see purpose built stadiums for the game to be showcased….
