CRICUT TIPS: HOW TO CONVERT A PHOTO TO SVG FOR CRICUT PROJECTS
Hi Cricuters, if I had one piece of advice to give to anyone wanting to make money with their Cricut machine it would be to offer custom and personalized gifts. Far too often I see people selling generic projects with their Cricut machine and then they're complaining that they can't get orders. Their projects are really cute but they don't have things like names dates or photos added to them. Adding photos to your blanks is one of my favorite ways to make personalized gifts. Today I'm going to show you how to convert a photo into an svg. This is a great skill to have and will allow you to make really customized pieces of art with your Cricut machine. I mostly use this technique on my memorial lanterns but I have also made tons of other gifts with photos like Christmas ornaments, pillows, t-shirts, coffee mugs, shadow boxes and more. There's a few different steps that you have to do to convert a photo into an svg and most of it's done on my cell phone so I'm gonna show you guys how I do that in this video.

I got those a few years ago at Ocean State Job Lot and I haven't seen them since. I have seen some nice ones at Target for $10 and some even nicer ones at Bed Bath and Beyond for around $12

Background remove is also avail online (web version), don’t necessarily need the app for that part. Also sending images through FB, they end up very condensed as FB compresses it and you can loose quality… but hey if it works, it works! :) You can use a png to SVG free website to covert it into an SVG. Even though you named your file SVG, it’s not an SVG, it’s a jpg or png depending how you saved it… then you don’t need to worry about Cricut making you pay.

The remove.bg app and the Adobe Capture app are both on the Google play store on an Android phone. I didn't make a stencil with etch cream. I cut the design with black Oracle 651 vinyl and applied it to the glass.

It mean you have to mirror it before cutting it

You don't need to mirror permanent vinyl before cutting it. The only time I would mirror this vinyl is if you are putting it on the INSIDE of the glass on a lantern.

has Adobe Photoshop and inkscape both of which can save as an SVG ..lol so no need for remove background feature! But paying for Adobe so swings and roundabouts

Illustrator is even better than Photoshop for editing svgs. With Illustrator you can bring the image in and use image trace to make an svg in one shot
