I was a combat Medic in Vietnam 69-70 and I was called Doc after my first night ambush the first week I was with my recon unit and I am proud to wear my Combat Medics badge on my hat for every veteran I see and they also call me Doc and I am damn proud to to be called Doc.

I Was 11B (infantryman) and fought in Mosul and Baghdad Iraq 05-06 with the 172nd Stryker Brigade combat team. We lost a lot over there. There is no greater honor than earning the title of “doc” in a combat zone. Thanks for this video and opening up your soul! We love you brother!

What an emotional song. The combat medic is an unsung hero and it should be talked about more often. Seeing Devyn look up at you during the video made me think that she found a new appreciation for you and what you did. I've said this before to you and I'll say it again. I never served unfortunately, though i wanted to. But one of my friends was in as a 68 whiskey and did two tours in Afghanistan... never apologize for your reaction. I wish he reacted the way you did and was open to talking about it. He gets very angry and shuts me down, i understand there is a lot of trauma with that. My grandfather was a medic onboard a ship during ww2 and he had trauma. I think you are handling it in a more healthy way and not blaming yourself for those you couldnt save. Thank you for your service.

It’s not just a uniform and it’s not just a job. As a retired FMF Corpsman, I can say with the utmost certainty that it was our life. And we go through it alone a lot of the times. But stuff like this does not only hit me but it’s humbling as well.

My Grandfather and his Brother both served as medics and both ended up going to Normandy at the same time unbeknownst to the other …… Thankfulky both made it home. Over the years I had heard many stories, but never heard stories from Normandy, those men that day truly saw things no human should have to see. Thank you brother, best wishes for peace and health in your retirement

I know I have not seen or been faced with the injuries or situations you saw in combat but I know a little how you feel about being called “Doc”. Only been blessed to have heard it a few times from co-workers and law enforcement of my career in EMS of 30 plus years of service. Regardless of where you are it’s hard to tell someone their going to be all right when you know their going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it hurts and stays with you forever.

Doc, from another Doc, I think the most important thing is for us to process what we have been through. There are situations that regardless of our knowledge and skill, we were never able to change the outcome. The fact that we have the ability to share this with our children will give them a better understanding of the world around them

Retired Navy here. My last tour I was a Navy Cop serving as security at a Naval Hospital. We got deployed to Iraq in 2003. Followed the Marines in from Kuwait and set up a 300 bed Field Hospital in the dessert. I always had a lot of respect for Corpsmen but after that deployment it certainly went up. We did not lose on person. They might have went home with issues, but they all went home.
