When snapping pictures, you will accidentally take pics of your foot, the sky, intentionally take a pic of a firefighter working (retired fire marshal here...). Do not delete these photos. As stated in the video, an attorney WILL rake you over the coals over a missing pic that absolutely proves his client is innocent. My two cents.

I am not sure why your dreams would be crushed, but I can tell you that there are varied requirements for Crime Scene work in different parts of the US. Some places require a Masters Degree in a hard science, some have different requirements. Some agencies use sworn police personnel who hopefully receive specialized and comprehensive training. If you are driven to do the work, do your research and find out what you need. Education and training are important, but just having a college degree is not the be all/end all.

Don't be discouraged. I'm starting school in the Fall and I will have my AAS in Criminal Justice.....I'm 45 years old. I know there is a lot of competition for very few positions so, I'm doing a few independent study certications, pounding the pavement in search of lawyers or PI's that might need an intern and taking a community education class in Photography this summer. I have to go for it though. I'm hoping to land a job and then get my PI license and do some freelance work , and my big picture has me finding a partner, or a few, to start a nonprofit to help victims families whose cases are underinvestigated or poorly investigated, cold cases and missing persons. I want to provide different levels of scholarships for victims children, awarded based on academics and community outreach projects, resources for victims support and community support.....the possibilities are endless. I lost a loved one last year, at the hands of someone else and we didn't get the justice that fit the crime. It's a devastating feeling of defeat. We're not rich and had no idea how the process worked and what our rights were. The prosecutor tried but we needed more time for more thorough work. We had to roll with it.....I want to help families leave no stone unturned, whether they can afford it or not. No case should be shelved because relentless digging for answers, isn't in the budget or there isn't enough resources or manpower

There are benefits in the field to having some experience. The mention of needing 5-10 years before becoming a detective often applies to Crime Scene Investigators also, and with good reason.

I agree that true crime programs are more beneficial for those who wish to learn Forensic Science and Crime Scene Investigations. I am a seasoned professional in the field and I test and challenge myself to watch these programs and to come up with good (better) ideas than are used in the case, and to question theories of attorneys and more the over-reaching conclusions of some paid forensic experts.

There was a man who lost his finger tip in a model aircraft accident. With the help of his brother who was a doctor he was able to completely regrow it including his fingerprint.
@rachelbraaten52853 жыл бұрын
I heard about this! They used stem cells to regrow it.
@matthewkeisling27763 жыл бұрын
While there would have been friction ridge detail in any regrown skin, it would have differed from the pattern that person had prior to the accident. The environment of the womb actually alters and effects the pattern of the fingerprint.
@lizjoe217505 жыл бұрын
When speaking about fingerprints and DNA, the prof forgets to mention identical twins, which share the same of each.

Elizabeth Joseph Same DNA but not same fingerprint
@lizjoe217505 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you told me - THANKS! I remember watching a show about a case where two twins murdered someone, and the prosecution couldn't pinpoint which one did it because, in their words, the kids had identical fingerprints. They couldn't send either to prison because they didn't have solid proof regarding either, or. Now I feel dumb for thinking it was true, this whole time. Thanks for setting me straight! :D
@Philosophat755 жыл бұрын
No two humans have identical fingerprints. At least theoretically.
@matthewkeisling27763 жыл бұрын
Identical twins have the same DNA, but not the same fingerprints. The development of the patterns in the friction ridges is effected by the environment, even in the womb. Strange but true.
