Akata-Pore is a hypocrite and rather the coward! He thought the Kufuor administration would go after them so he had to fight for sympathy. Rawlings on the hand stayed in the country all his life because he had a clear conscience!

I was by then a young soldier stationed at 1 Battalion of infantry,Michel Camp.Tema. And l must lay bear this fact. With the killing of the Generals,l quite remember JJ Rawlings came to my unit to seek the consensus of the troops. I am aware he did go to all the six battalions to do same.Frankly speaking we all called for their execution. It was as though the population of Ghana at that time wanted to see the flow of blood to placate their anger. I will conclude saying what happened or let me say the event of things was inevitable.Rawling indeed was the leader of the revolution but on the occasion of the killing of the Generals he didn't know what to do, because there was so much pressure from we the soldiers and the population at large. With hindsight so many things happened at that time but don't make sense today.

EMMANUEL KOFI AZALETEY Rawlings n his cohorts were jealous junior ranks in d army then, who felt they needed to undermine their superiors through a smear campaign n vilification. Our nation was getting ready for an election in 78 wth all d democratic processes on course, yet these junior ranks n their civilian surrogates defied d process to stage a foolish mutiny. Essentially, they never were able one bit to fight n eliminate their claimed societal ills, but rather excercebate it n became filthy n Rawlings today has a daughter in parliament. Prof Ninsin in Legon calls it junior rank decomposition. But trust me each n everyone knowingly involved in this madness n treachery against Ghanaians will up to their 10th generation pay bitterly for all d evil done. Wayo0244927262

@@wayopapa2705 Well you have the right to your opinion, but I don't share or agree with you. I strongly believe or let me say suspect maybe you were not born at that time . You see sometimes you need to put yourself in the position of someone, see what he saw, know the circumstances surrounding him to know why he took a decision or acted in a manner. Ghana at the time has nothing close to what you see and enjoying today. So you can sit in your comfort zone today and say what you're saying. The situation was so humiliating to the extend that most Ghanaians living overseas and in neibouring countries were hiding their identities. Most Ghanaians were claiming Nigerian identity because at that time the Nigerian oil boom was at it's epic, the economy was booming,45 kobos were equivalent to one dollar, most of Ghanaian teacher left to teach in Nigeria where they we paid times more than in Ghana. There were no teachers to teach in our schools,in most of the secondary schools the brilliant students in sixth form were made to teach in their schools. Look it was a terrible era of Ghana's history.I have to attend a meeting so l will stop here for now.

EMMANUEL KOFI AZALETEY In 79,i was 9yrs n at least conversant wth discussions. I hve read extensively from diverse writeups both at o level n a levels, n I hve interviewed quite a lot of honest men n women who lived as eye witnesses. Looked I personally so d despicable attitudes of d so-called 64battalion tagged as Cuban trained commandos, cdos, cdrs, 31stdecember women's movements cvcs etc. Plz no amount of ur sugarcoating can justify this abominable conduct of foolish n poorly educated abongo soldiers like Rawlings who could hardly pass gce olevel at achimota school n even his promotional exams in d army. U guys were led by this Scottish bastard to perpetrator n visit mayhem on our pple. Posterity will deal wth everyone of u. Non availability of goods n services didn't justify ur devious n satanic act cuz it was purely a matter of economics, business trade etc. Otherwise d 83 hunger in Ghana also justified munity, my friend stop d lies. Show me d probity n accountability records of d 20yr rule of a villain like ur idol. Killing judges, lawyers, civilians etc.

@@wayopapa2705 First of all you have to mind your language and utterances. You are not discussing with your friends. I can assure you am not sugar coating nothing.Do your research very well l am laying the facts bear as they were at the time. Flying a jetfighter is not ridding bycicle so Ghana Armed Forces does not enlist drop outs but brilliant people. It cost a lot of money to train a pilot, because if they don't pick the right people who can complete the course government will loose money very heavily. Rawlings was the best cadet of his intake and won the Flying Eagle Award. So he's not what you are painting him to be.Two l know brilliant officers who were sent to Sandhurst Military Academy in Britain one of the best in the world. They graduate as the best foreign commonwealth student with the cain of honour. When they come to Ghana after the training they keep failing them because of enviness. So it can happen. You people should learn to discuss in a civilized manner without resorting to insults. It takes 18 months of hard training to graduate from military academy. If you want brilliant men and women come to Ghana Armed Forces. So don't say things you don't know. I thought I was discussing with a cultured well educated individual.

The circumstances that led to June 4th cannot be understood by those who didn't live that era. I therefore l understand in a way the youth of day Ghana today. Who are very lucky to have everything on their finger tips. I left the army prematurely to seek greener pastures abroad. From around the mid seventies till around the mid eighties being a Ghanaian was somehow very embarrassing.Believe me.... what I lived and saw most Ghanaians living abroad were claiming to be Nigerians and other nationalities just hid our identities. You will meet your fellow Ghanaian abroad and he will tell you he's not a Ghanaian but another national especially Nigerian.Because at that time there was the oil boom of the seventies and the Nigerian economy was a flamboyant one with money every where. Most Ghanaians who travelled in mid seventies onwards till late eighties travelled with either a Nigerian or Upper Volta(Burkina Faso) passports. Time and circumstances change drastically the reverse becomes the reality. See Nigeria today. By the close of the eighties we started gaining confidence in ourselves as a country and people. Most top Npp personalities today worked under Rawlings in those days like Ex President Kufour and many others.lf they thought it was a mad man's revolution why did they join the mad man Rawlings.Today they are all hiding that part of their lives. Only Dr. Wireko Brobbey openly say it publicly he worked in a Rawlings government. The others don't want the youth of today to know that part of their lives because it has become comfortable disassociating oneself from the past. Hypocrites and opportunists.President Kufour should come out today and tell Ghanaians what prompted to join the revolution. Most Ghanaians are very naive so are easily deceived and brainwashed especially the youth because they don't read to get the facts before talking or writing. So do more research and get proper information at all times.

I used to respect akata pore in the past but not today. He’s not a credible person himself. His answers to questions show some bias towards his former boss. His personal attacks on Rawlings is his main focus in this discussion. He should shut his mouth, after all, he wasn’t an angel then and he can’t be one today

If we keep going on as a consumer economy today , its simply because of our natural resources, but not because of good management. Strangly enough rawlings was a friend of Cuba . I will not say that Castro was a wrong figure, for at least he faught for his country only that the cuban revolution did not pay of because Cuba is still literaly a poor country above all . When a revolution is a mobilisation of the people , it becomes a succesful mission for the whole nation . If one person wakes up and impose à revolution on the people , he either unbeleivably becomes a tyrant because not everyone sides with him which provokes indescriptible killings. The second option is when the leaders change things for real and leave the scene for good and never come. In ghana we accepted and natured a revolution which brought nothing apart from more crimes and corruption on the part of rawlings and his men. The worse part of this was the fact that We were not bold enough to require the soo called probity and accountability which was the reasons why the revolution took place. I sometimes ask myself which lessons rawlings was learning upon becoming freind of Cuba when he should have known that, the cuban revolution, did not transforme the country. So infact my conclusion on this cubafancy on the part of rawlings was to learn the negatives and apply them in ghana. Castro faught to rescue cuba partly from the Americans but rawlings was figting against ghana. Today they tell us of stability at his time which is not true because it was the era of silence. Some even say he brought democracy to our nation which is false . Why because he overthrew a democracy, he prematurely subdued and Terminated a national decision by the people. He deserves a state buried ceremony as a former leader but the recognition as a material ghanaian i doubt.

You are just not an honest man! In your own words, Rawlings heard that the judges were captured and he immediately ordered Amartey to go and release them. If he actually wanted them dead, why didn't he know the actual time that was arranged for the murder to take place? If he knew, he wouldn't have asked for their release when the arranged time had passed. You just hated the man for nothing! Your own colleague soldier called Braima Issaka of the then recki regiment knows the truth. According to him, Amartey wrote him a letter whilst in prison with Amedeka, Dzandu, Tekpor regarding the murder of the judges and the general. He said Amartey didn't mention President Rawlings in the letter. You are just speculating because you went into hunger strike so you were transferred to the BNI cells. You are the only one who didn't get to read the letter. It is a wicked thing to accuse a person of murder by SPECULATIONS and your so called "LOGIC"! I think JOY TV's UPFRONT should look for the man Braima Issaka for the TRUE story!

Kalabule was driven by insufficient supply, since ghana then and now was not producing enough and heavily dependent on imports. In 1979 Ghanaians abroad and their remittance was infinitesimal. Now remittance by Ghanaians abroad is a new major source of foreign exchange, which has increased foreign exchange and the country able to make more import of goods.Yet ghana government refuse to award these unsung heroes of the Ghanaian economy dual citizenship.June fourth cannot be credited for disappearance of kalabule because it didn't bring about a major structural changes in the economy.Sadly ghana still can't tap it land and human resources to produce enough rice and heavily dependent on imports after going through the so called revolution.
