Hey conure fans,
This week's video focused specifically on Crimson Bellied Conures. They are becoming increasingly popular as pets and sadly most of the information out there about them is quite frankly lacking or misleading.
So in the hopes of fixing that I've made a guide to them. This guide focuses more on successful husbandry, training, their behaviours & how to interact with them. This is rather than diet, cage set up etc which is similar to other conure species and is covered in Sophie's more general guide to them.
This is the guide for you, if you'd like to learn to interact with them and what to expect when doing so.
As usual, any comments or questions feel free!

I was always the assumption that a crimson belly was a color mutation untill you and sophie got Kipling. They are a very interesting species.

They are! Loads of people think they are! I’ve even had comments like I’ve doctored photos of a normal green cheek lol

I just got a crimson belly conure from a horrible pet shop he’s still untamed and his tail was damaged at the shop I chose to take him and rehome him to give him a better life are there any tips that I could have for taming him as he deathly afraid of me he’s starting to get more comfortable but I have a bunch of toys for him and he flaps his wings a bunch which I’ve read means he’s happy but I’m not sure

Wing flapping can mean all sorts, so it’s best not to assume if possible! So it’s awesome that you’ve taken him on. I’d take it nice and slow, give him plenty of time to settle in. I’d work out what his favourite treats are and offer them To him through the bars initially as well as doing passive bonding work. When he’s a bit more comfortable you can start target training! I have lots of videos covering bonding, training and diet that may help!

Sorry for commenting on your video about this subject again but, my GCC is still biting me and I still don't know what to do! I've tried soft targeting and I haven't reacted to him biting even though it hurts really bad but when he sees flesh he will bite it for e.g he bites my neck, back, arm, finger so on and so on. If you know what going on please let me know, I really want to stop his behaviour. Although the biting could also probably be cause by the fact he's molting too I'm not sure

So you didn’t comment too long ago about this issue! Biting can take a while to sort out and it takes consistent training and effort. It’s very rarely a quick fix. I have lots of videos about it that you can explore but if you want me to look into the problem in detail you’d need to book a consultation with our business!

If you have a flock of green cheeks and let's say you work 8 hour shifts, can they be happy that way? Or do you recommend not getting them unless the schedule is more open?

If you mean crimsons specifically and they have plenty of company in the form of other birds then you could get away with it more. If they are alone it’s not ideal!

My home is ruled by a crimson bellied conure 😂 (only joking) I can testify that they are easily excitable and that can lead to nipping. Cuddly, yes absolutely. Talkative, yes constantly. Water loving, oh you bet they are (belly flops in the sink kind of water loving) 😂
