I gotta admit I agree with everything KC says. I’ve been playing it on PC game pass and while the art style is amazing and the time powers are neat (walking through a town and seeing the past,present and future at the same time is just trippy), the amount of grind is insane.

Played the Demo and enjoyed it. Waiting for this to drop for months and picked it up. Haven't gotten around to playing it yet but I'll slot it in the near future.

Beautiful games but tedious gameplay. I only played the demo because the trailer hooked me. Sadly the game lost me quite fast. One thing that broke my interest is not seeing enemies' life status. Like many RPGs it's not clear enough if what you do is effective or a waste of time. The story doesn't look strong enough to make me work through this hurdle.

Seems like a game that would be great to play with a mod or cheat to cut down on grinding.

It's $10 now for a physical copy new at gamestop, as of today.

I'm pretty big on JRPGs and I haven't had turn based one for quite awhile so I think I'll give this a shot.

Missed this review when it dropped, glad I was directed to it since the game is free on Epic right now and I had no idea what to expect

Damn reading out those platforms so slowly

It's funny that in the older days grinding was the norm but in this day and age there have been many workarounds that simply make grinding for exp unacceptable. Nintendo strayed far away from that model a few years back with its AAA games completely since it made games unenjoyable. Imagine coming home after work to work some more just to get through a game. Impressively, other games like Divnity simply added more quest/story elements and the difficulty is based on whether or not you want to go through with it. The best system though was Golden Sun and the Djinn system. You can speedrun the game without levelling at all. In this era though, I'd rather not have to grind mobs.... bleh...

Yeah, $40 is too much money for whats it sounds like you get. Might wishlist and wait for a sale but you know it does kinda sound like a slog.

I got the game via game pass and im now happy that its seems that there is a heavy emphasis on the grind. im not sure if it was me but combat seemed unfun. there wasn't a noticeable difference when I would block an attack or get hit straight up.

When i need to think about either i want to play a game or not is because i truly don't want to play it so i'm skipping this one till i get the motivation on a year or 2

Game pass is the perfect place for that kind of game.

Grinding doesn't bother me and I just got this for £10 physical so looks like I will enjoy it.

Shame about regional prices and lack of configs on PC. Paying full AAA price for an indie where you can't even select refresh rate (not to mention that it starts in 1024x768 on my 2K monitor and there is no fix for it) is just not worth it.

The game needs a year more in the oven. While the artstyle and voice acting is compelling, the pacing, story and overall feel is all over the place and doesn't really create a good flow. Things that actually need some explanation get not the right focus, while other things are weirdly focused upon.

I beta tested this game and I don't know what it was, but the main character's name got to me really bad. Crisbel... Not Crisibel, or Cristabel or anything else that flows off the tongue. My ears couldn't take hearing her name being said lol. Eh, it's a petty nitpick I suppose, but it was like a car coming to a sudden stop mid-cruise each time her name was spoken. I think it's the pause in the middle, and how characters put more emphasis on the "bel" part of her name instead of trying to make it sound like it was one flowing word (name in this case). My brain would register it as them saying two names, or a full name like, "My name is Cris Belle" when my ears heard it, then my brain would fight with my eyes when I saw the spelling of it being a single name, "Crisbel".

To me the biggest annoying thing about the game is on switch, every time you block, parry, or critical hit the switch will vibrate aggressively and there's no OFF option for it

Grind? Game is as easy as JRPG can be. The only actual fight I felt like even thinking was the very last one. You get crap ton of money for battles, maxed out weapons for every character before second half of the game and never ever stopped to grind, even put on characters special ring to avoid random encounters to do some fetch quests faster. Only character above level 30 at the very end was CrisBell because you can't swap her out and she gets every bit of exp in the game. Honestly after first two boss battles even time gimmicks are just there... Not needed. Wouldn't recommend for people who actually loves JRPGs because it feels more of a copycat rather than inspired game with some good ideas of their own.

I get the vibe that it wasn't possible for you to do a good review of this game. You were clearly pressed for time when this strikes me as a game that's meant more for grinder/completionist players who will spend large amounts of time looking into each detail. You tried your best, but it seemed like you yourself realized you were only seeing a fragment of the full game/story in how you reviewed it.

No mention of waiting forever for the stupid frog to catch up on the overworld like IGN's review? That's probably the biggest mark against the game currently.

Always sucks when a game has amazing artsyle but bad gameplay (and vice versa).

Why cant they just make game like this without all this boring grind.

Me now: What an interesting and novel conc... 7 year old me: Nope! Nope! So much nope! Screw old school jrpgs! Never again! Me: B-but you can see into the past and future and the artstyle... 7 year old me: Do you want to read endless droves of text and wait your turn or do you want to play video games!?
