Helllo Joan, my utmost respect for your faith. I just started going to the TLM some 8-9 weeks ago. I didnt even know about it nor that the regular Sunday mass I was attending is called Novus Ordo mass. I accidently bumped into the "Pachamama procession" held inside the Basilica by Pope Francis(youtube) that got me all upset and started doing some research. But now I'm totally confused. Do I stop attending all weekdays masses and sunday masses and only attend the 1 Tridentine Mass on Sunday that available only in 1 church in my city? You see, my mom had a severe stroke last Nov 2021, now half paralysed, on a feeding tube, and I was hoping to pray for her in church every day,,,,now what do I do? Just pray at home instead? Any advice from traditional caholics here most welcome. Thank you and GOD Bless everybody here

@@TLM-st You can visit the Blessed Sacrament in Novus Ordo Churches, the Sacrament is valid. But you can't attend the N.O. Mass, as the N.O. Mass, even if valid, is a displeasing sacrifice to God. It's like the difference between the sacrifices of Cain and Abel. But... if the Church distributes Communion in the hand, then all bets are off because even traversing the nave and transept to sit in / kneel in a pew you run the high risk of stepping on Our Lord in the fragments that inevitably fall from people's hands as they walk away from taking Communion. It's awful.

The SSPX have a mission chapel in Gilford NH. Maybe I'll see you at Mass one day.

Dear Jesus L, My husband and I age 59 and 69 last year had our Confirmation in the SSPX in UK. We love God and we are so very grateful to God for the SSPX. We came to the SSPX from 10 years in the Church of England. God took us both directly to the SSPX. God commanded us to go to the SSPX. Praise God!

It is clear to me that FSSP want to have their cake and eat it too. I have heard Fr. Thomas Wolfe point fingers at SSPX for its "dubious" position. It is a pity that he and perhaps others, fail to realize that without the late Bishop Lefebvre, there would be NO FSSP. In reality, they want to have the appearance of authority that the counterfeit NO hierarchy provides.

My understanding is that Lefebvre was willing to 'accept' Vatican II in the spirit of tradition (paraphrased). Lefebvre was the one who initially proposed the 'compromise' if you believe Michael Davies account of Lefebvre's dialogues with Pope Paul VI (presumably given to Davies by Lefebvre), which can be read at the SSPX Asia website. Lefebvre may have had a change of heart by '88, but basically FSSP (and subsequently other groups) took the deal Lefebvre was slated to take had the unauthorized consecrations not taken place in '88.

Unfortunately, SSPX is already out of the box.

Yes, but Bishop Schneider was upset that the SSPX calls the Novus Ordo Mass sinful. He said basically "I also say the Novus Ordo Mass. When I do so am I sinning?"

I go to an FSSP parish. I’ve met about ten of their priests. So far it’s been 50/50. Some think Francis is great and everything’s fine. Some not so much. They have to be careful about what they say. @Go Eagles when your not sure if your confirmation was done correctly. Specially if you found out even just 1 case when your diocese had used a different oil and not the correct olive oil for confirmation. You may seek a conditional confirmation.

@@deadpoet4662 In my case it was that I was received into the Church using my 1963 Methodist Baptismal Certificate. All witnesses are dead and there is some doubt. Before the Council it was common to conditionally Baptize Protestant converts for this reason.

In my understanding, even tho they celebrate the novus ordo, the faithful that attend the mass is them that longing for the tradition, so that should not be a problem for them to impose the ban on communion on hand within their parish. Not even a one modern faithful in their "right mind" will attend a mass in these traditional group, even when the mass is being offered in novus ordo rite. These traditional groups will try to make a novus ordo mass become more reverent more solemn in traditional term so it will be a big no for them the modernist who loves to hear piano or guitar or even drum during mass...

As for me, the differences with “SSPX- MC” are: 1) the latter rejects all contact with the modernist roman authorities: this is not catholic, because the fact that they are modernists does not prevent them to emanate legitimate orders, like a canonical status if there is not any conditioning against the faith in it; 2) they consacrated Bishops but this time, unlike Mgr Lefebvre, without invoking any cause of justification, because nothing had changed in SSPX for that move (neither the doctrine, nor the health of the remaining Bishops).

Did Bishop Fellay cut a deal with Pope Benedict? (There is a picture of them shaking hands; Masonic in style.) Is this why the SSPX-MC formed?

You know nothing about the FSSP. The FSSP criticized many of VCII. And they are saying that the Paul VI Mass is not 100% catholic.

They (ICSKSP) have permission from Rome to us the 1955 Liturgical books, SSPX does not.

I am currently in the process of joining the Fraternity of St Peter. The only reason I picked FSSP over ICKSP was because I didnt feel capable of learning the whole curriculum in French. Not to mention because of Covid, I can no longer travel to Europe to the seminary. Its so heartbreaking that I read how everyone thinks my future seminary is worthless.

See Fssp charter. It’s the opposite. Fssp was chartered to only be where Sspx already was. Period. AND you should go as far as needed for Mass, even if monthly. Fssp is going away anyway. It’s tough to accommodate apostate Rome.

Seriously? The SSPX has never stopped expanding. We have priests who spend several hours a week travelling by plane, by car, all over, to bring the Holy Mass and Sacraments to far-flung places. I have seen young priests become old within a few short years because of how thin they are stretched. I've known our priests to travel hours to be at someone's dying bedside because they couldn't get a NO priest to come, bc of the distance, or the hour, or Covid. Archbishop Lefebvre told us he envisioned the faithful moving to Mass centers, like St. Mary's and others, so that their families could live close to Mass and other trad families. In my opinion, seeing the wear on the priests, (and btw, how many do you think there even are?) the SSPX has expanded too quickly. Pray for more vocations.

Dear Beagle, It may be the duty of the Church to bring sacraments to the people, but the SSPX is not and has never claimed to be The Catholic Church. We are one congregation which, by the grace and providence of God, preserves Tradition intact in the current crisis. Stephen Dennis gave part of the answer why we are not "expansionist" in the way you would like to see. We have finite resources: there are not an infinite number of SSPX priests in the USA, for example. Unlike the priests of most of the Ecclesia Dei communities, most of us teach in schools all week. Then we drive or fly for hours at the weekend before coming back to another working week in school. Human beings can overextend and burnout. This is true for priests as well. And a priest who is exhausted and run down is long-term less likely to be able to help souls. He could get sick. And if he feels that his superiors didn’t protect him and pushed him to burn out, he could even be at risk of leaving the congregation or giving up his priesthood. To start a chapel in an area would need a big enough group of faithful requesting the presence of an SSPX priest. After that, the SSPX superiors would need to calculate, can we prudently answer this request at this time, or is it too much for the priests we currently have to handle, given long-term care for the priests themselves. The world needs priests, the SSPX needs priests: pray for vocations, and young men, please be generous! Also, for those seeking to really participate in all the means to Catholic life that the SSPX has to offer, the ideal (and I don’t say it is possible/practical for each) would be to move near to an SSPX priory- this gives access to daily Mass, divine office, Benediction, the school, parish catechism, social and charitable events, etc. Be assured of my prayers!
