Messi grew up playing in a closed system, possession style team where passing has to be a major part of his game. Ronaldo has always played for counter attacking teams where it doesnt play as big a role so his ability isnt on display as much. The style of play of the teams he's played for explains why his crossing, flicks and long passes in particular are insanely good

Ver well observed. Both perfected the style of football which best suited their clubs. There is more evidence of ronaldo's ability to adapt than there is for messi. Messi needs to move out of barcelona to be able to prove that.

That's because the messi lovers want us to believe that messi id the only one who knows how to pass the ball and CR7 itself prefer to receive the pases to scored it rather than doing the passing, CR7 can do a lot of things that nobody seems to remember or want to forget, just because he became more of a finisher than a creative player.

CR7 can pass very well but he choose not to do it like a creative playmaker because he has transformed his style of play to the finisher type, the one who finishes the passes not the one who does it. Messi does it every time because his style of play is as the playmaker of his team so he do pass the ball every time. Ronaldo rose his assists stat at 2008 where he was with Berbatov, Rooney, and Tevez. Most of his current teammates are just shits at finishing the ball, Benzema and Higuain for the example. I was frustating watching Real Madrid at 2016/17 looking how Benzema kept missing the goal from Ronaldo passes.

No he isn't. It's becuz those passes you see are accumulated over a 15+ year career. So you think he's so good when anyone would have similar good passes when playing so long. A single season of Messi has far superior passing quality. That's how you recognize a great playmaker. Not over a decade plus of football and compiling a KZfaq vid.

@@joshjohnes4868 Clown, CR7 averaged 2.2 keypasses till 2014 . He was a very consistent passer and playmaker till 2014. After that He changed his game to a poacher due to Tendonitis knee injury and Aging. . Watch him at united or early Madrid days. You will know.

@@raaheelaamir Not exactly, but you're not wrong. The thing is why play CR7 as a Winger when he's litteraly the most complete forward to ever play the game. He can be a False 9, a Poacher, a Post Player (Euro 2016), a Center Forward who make runs to create space for his teammates and he's elite on counter attacks. He's so complete that he's the perfect modern Center Forward and Striker if you need him to just score. Also his defense is underrated and he's a threat on the press unlike many Forwards.

the scariest thing is that he is so good, we forget how amazing he actually is if he is not at the receiving end of a pass. He could have easily had 100+ assists to his name if it was wernt because of the poor finishing by the other guys. He literally gives the most simplest assist opportunities, but the guys were squandering them. This guy is the most complete footballer ever. This is why he is such a hero to me.

People seem to forget that he's a winger lol. He's used to those long balls and crosses, but each club and coach have a playing system where one or another style is more effective. . Saying that he doesn't "play for the team" or "isn't creative" is stupid, you simply have to watch what role he's playing in the tactics and the strikers he's been put up with. If he played with ibrahimovic/suarez, im more than sure that he'd still have as much goals but considerably more assists.

100% Fact. Well-said. Messi has NEVER pulled off some of those rabona passes, back heel passes, trivelas, and shoulder passes, and Messi's weak foot passing is nowhere near Ronaldo's passing.

I think the issue is that people always compare him to Messi. But ignore that for a guy who's so good at scoring goals he does actually know how to pass really well, this is just not his role. And he has never been in a system to where he could do these kind passes while still have enough time to move towards goal to potentially be the goalscorer. If I do have to mention Messi a lot of times when I watched Barcelona Messi could do these really long passes or through balls that still somehow resulted in him moving near goal to get a goal scoring opportunity out of it, which is a system that they simply had in place. Not saying Ronaldo > Messi in passing, not at all but Ronaldo is underrated as a passer because he's more of a goalscorer. Plus Ronaldo hasn't exactly played with the greatest goalscorers. Bale was amazing but injured a lot of the time, Rooney was great but outside of that? Nothing too crazy. I hope that him going back to Man U who have plenty of goalscoring already that he really starts to get a lot of assists.

One of the best passers on the pitch. Can deliver the ball right to your feet, can curve it into dangerous areas, and can switch it to the other wing with ease. He has evolved his role into like a No. 9 poacher, so it is not his job to get 2 or more assists a game. It is not his job to distribute the ball throughout the midfield, and tiki taka ia not his play style. The most complete footballer and only idiots think he only scores penalties and tap ins.

Great video. I always say that his passing is underrated. From the top of my mind, the passes you missed were the backheel flick assist to Rooney (the ball was almost going towards Rooney but he guided it better while the ball was in the air moving). And the other one is the backheel pass to Kroos on the build up to his last El Clasico goal.
