The stats of the jug are official content and actually include the amount of beer and mayo that it can make. Travis just saw the mayo part of the item and ran with it

dames01 Actually, the Alchemy Jug is part of the Dungeon Master’s Guide which was released in December of 2014, 3 months before the first episode of Critical Role aired in March of 2015. So the item predates the show.

That's part of the fun of being a DM/GM. You give them the item and they decide what to do with it. If it is something stupid, like what Grog did, they can.

This reminds me of some of the really natural exchanges that my D&D group has. One time someone asked my dwarf how his people reach the shelves if their libraries are so large, and he angrily shouted, "WE HAVE LADDER GUILDS!" That day, I added to the canon of the world with a passing comment.

Lol. The first time I DMed for my family, my little brother (he's 12) who was playing a barbarian with a great axe said that he was going to throw his "Great Ox". It cracked us all up. XD Now we just assume that he just takes an Ox around with him to throw at enemies. Best session of D&D ever.

I had a Barbarian Goliath much like Grog named Throck, little more violent at times, just as "uniquely intelligent", and a real hero type. Just recently finding this series so it's awesome to have someone to identify with.

Jeremy Crawford and Christopher Perkins said the only reason why mayonnaise is one of the liquids produced by the Alchemy Jug was because eventually someone would come up to them and tell them the story of how gallons of mayonnaise managed to save the party's life or defeat the bad guy.

The staplers are used as en emote for the HR (Human Resources) department, basically if someone at a company says something particularly inappropriate they could get sent to HR, the stapler is a play on that.

Actually it's much simpler than all that. Bad words, profanity, all that sort of thing are censored with red staplers in the chat during the stream. In the earlier episodes where they actually show the chat during the stream you can see it quite a bit. So since the staplers censor profanity in the chat, people tend to incorporate the staplers in videos and stuff when something censor-worthy happens. That's all.
