One of my favorites (a classic on security) is Carol Cohn's article "Sex and Death in the Rational World of Defense Intellectuals." You should also check out Cynthia Enloe's Bananas, Beaches, and Bases. Both are classics in this field. Swati Parashar, Donna Pankhurst, Judith Butler, V. Spike Peterson, Laura Shepherd, and Jacqui True have all written good intro-level textbooks on the topic. Hope this helps. Good luck with your studies!
