At around 5 PM Pacific daylight time. A 911 call was placed for a domestic disturbance. Shortly this escalated to a shots fired call inside the house! Officers responded code 3 to the location and requesting a red. Several more units were dispatched including a new 2021 Chevy Tahoe! Fire was also dispatched to this call as a assist PD emergency. As officers arrived the suspect Darryl Sanders would not come out. Units quickly requested additional units. They then received more information that there was a lot more people inside the house. Including 2 blind females including one hooked up to a IV. They also had a male with very limited skills inside the residence. Units quickly surrounded the house as Darryl is a 11x felon and was armed and extremely dangerous. After around 3 hours of negotiations with no response they had to up their antics and request SWAT, ARMOR, and additional units. Upon their arrival they tried to negotiate before throwing flash grenades and gas into the structure. Still negative response. They began to throw flash grenades into the home which still had no response. They escalated and breached the door. They made entry and was able to get the majority of the people out of the house. They then received a 911 call stating Darrel had a Hostage! They made entry once again with the arrest team and Darrel finally surrendered. HPD said “58-year-old Darryl Sanders was taken into custody without incident about 11:33 p.m. He was booked on one count of assault with a deadly weapon and a prohibited person in possession of a firearm”.
