@laurens.6940 Yes, but the reference is to a nickel, AKA 5 copper pieces, and electrum (an alloy of gold and silver) is worth 5 silver, so it follows that an alloy of copper and silver would be worth 5 copper. Can we talk about how Matt echos Marisha when Imogen is confronting her after the whole stand off?? Such a unique touch to portray Delilah’s influence
@hfar_in_the_sky
@hfar_in_the_sky 21 күн бұрын
I also thought it was interesting how Delilah didn’t repeat Laudna’s “I love you” towards Imogene. Some people have theorized that it’s proof that Laudna’s love for Imogene can overcome Delilah’s influence, but the theory that’s got me more convinced is that Delilah simply refuses to repeat those words on principle because the only person she would ever say those words to is Sylas, the love of her life whom she was willing to break the world for
@Lurklen
@Lurklen 18 күн бұрын
@@hfar_in_the_sky And Imogen represents a threat to Delilah's control of Laudna. She will be the last hurdle to whatever Delilah want's from Luadna my guess is basically resurrection without relying on a god, just slowly transforming Laudna until she's back. (We've already seen that Laudna can justify hostile action against everyone else, if manipulated the right way. In the end, Imogen might be the only one who can hold her back.)
@kaniamia
@kaniamia 15 күн бұрын
@@LurklenNah, the only one who can pull Laudna out is Laudna. And Delilah knows all about doing terrible things for love; I actually think she’d be all too happy to convince Laudna that the only way to keep Imogen safe is by seeking more power and relinquishing more control.
@Lurklen
@Lurklen 15 күн бұрын
@@kaniamia I don't think she can, I think Delilah's too enmeshed. She needs a proper exorcism. That's what she's doing now, and I think her end game is to essentially be brought back to life by having Laudna consume more powerful items until she replaces her. Soon enough there will be no difference between them.

Even more parallels! (IT'S SO CRAZY.) Both situations were made possible because of FCG. He revivify'd Fearne back then, and now they're all alive only because of his sacrifice. And what is FCG's holy symbol? The flip of a coin! Making impossible choices! Fearne is a druid, wielding the power of nature, whose existence was engineered by dark forces. That's what Orym and Lauda represent! It's a conflict between nature's power and human machinations.

@SuperHbkforever
@SuperHbkforever 22 күн бұрын
@@TheWickedMessenger3 I see what you're saying, I'm not worrying so much about the creature type in this situation because the either and bloom spell does kill vegetation within the area. To counter that point we'd probably want to consider the vines on his back magical so they also would be immune to it. I was mostly upset with the parallel between aabria's ruling on the chromatic orb interaction in the last episode (might've been 2 episodes ago at this point) and here where they forced each of their players to damage someone even though the spell would not work that way. In this instance it led to an actually really good story telling moment that might have been my favourite moment of the campaign so far. So again, the rules lawyer in me can eat it this time

@@SuperHbkforever oh wah wah wah who the hell cares about the rules? You are not playing. Stop bringing up rules. If he got it wrong, then maybe it was a homebrew self made rule. You are just making an excuse to say how bad you think aabria is.
@SuperHbkforever
@SuperHbkforever 21 күн бұрын
@@iceman3317 -_- this is exhausting. The rules are important to me, they're important as the game can't run without them. Matt is a guy known for being amazing at the rules, but he gets them wrong sometimes, and that's ok. The most important part about my last comment was that it led to such an amazing moment of roleplay that I agree, fuck the rules in this case. I just have to point out the fact that when aabria was DM for those 2 episodes, she was making many mistakes with the rules. The comment sections for those videos were brutal about how the rules were wrong, but when Matt does the same thing not 2 episodes later, he's given way more respect for it. What I'm trying to say is that if we were all upset with how poorly aabria handled these rules, then Matt should be held to the same standard. The problem with that is this situation led to such an amazing moment for the campaign that I kinda have to let it go.

Even Sam would probably agree after he said this during 4SD (episode 2): 'He [Dorian] was such a good way for us to explore-He was such a kind character-IS such a kind character that it felt like any of us could talk and relate to him, and to get support and stuff. He was a good sounding board.'

@@thetruestblue6169 To me it feels like it HAD to be Dorian, you know? Like, the fact that he came back and that's one of the first things he says to Orym (i know they talked before, I mean first important things 1on1) really just made me go "okay yeah got it, they're endgame 100%". None of the others get it. None of the others have a sense of responsibility like Orym. Dorian is the sort of anxious sort of quiet funny friend who watches the entire time and then hits you with that incredibly insightful one-liner that makes you cry. @@TheGIJew. It is. Neutral just means not good or evil, and a willingness to do bad things to serve the good of the world is as neutral as it gets. Add chaotic to that, and now laws aren’t important, so it was very correct of him to suggest that. I kinda wish they had, that would be a pretty funny turn of events. Bren sent them there, and Pumat’s simulacra got dispelled while he was away, all in service of trying to stop the god-(not just good, but evil, too)-eater from being unleashed. Bren would get mad, ofc, but hey, they done what’s right by them, and can’t ask no more than that (to (mis?)quote Jack Sparrow). Lou nearly broke down at how stupid the action he was about to commit was and that there was no way it'd go well for him, but he committed to it because it was genuinely what his character would do. And Marisha here knows exactly what it is that Laudna would do given everything that's led her up to this moment, even though it would inevitably lead her into conflict with the rest of the party.

I was honestly surprised that this sword incident wasn’t the moment where Orym genuinely loses his cool. Laudna betrayed his trust, physically hurt him, and then gaslit him about it to the point where some of his friends seemed willing to take her side. And all of this happened while he was still grappling with the death of FCG and also with the end of Otahan, his father’s and husband’s murderer. Orym had every right to be furious both with Laudna and with everyone who was trying to take a centrist stance about the whole thing. The fact that he didn’t take any more shots at her (physically or verbally), or use his extremely high dexterity to just leave, shows that Orym has amazing restraint.

I am especially impressed with his restraint given the gaslighting and the hypocrisy in Laudna's behavior. 1. Attacking him because he wants to use a perceived dark force. In character, I don't see how they can keep trusting Laudna after this. Attacking a fellow party member in his sleep and overtly feeding Deliliah in front of Imogen. All through the conversation she was obviously trying to make escape routes and calculating if she could get it and run, mage hand isnt invisible for Laudna. They would all be wondering "Who's the next person to be attacked in their sleep?" and to top it off, the cursed blade that riled her up so much didn't even matter in the end, she just wanted a powerful artifact to absorb. No slight to Marisha meant, she acted it out well.

Obviously they can't be too hard on her in case they cause her to snap, but so far they've been so gentle that she's only getting worse and truly thinks she's doing no wrong. Laudna doesn't want to have to thing about things or worry or make hard choices which why she has this happy go lucky persona but its also why delilah can control her so easily. I think how much he's been out of the loop for is a feature honestly. It adds an additional slice of tension for the rest of the party. Think about all of the twisted, traumatising stuff that has happened since they last saw him, and he's judging (in the objective not the prejorative sense) their behaviour now based on the versions these people that he *knew*, and I think that's an element of discomfort for some of the other characters who maybe can't handle having that mirror held up to them right now. I could be reading a bit too much into it, but I also love in Laudna's reply to him Marisha makes the choice to have her not look at him. I think she does this because in-character she does understand on some level that the Laudna she was before Dorian had to leave *would* have trusted her friends telling her not to do what she's doing. So many things have eaten away at her since then. Even while fighting with them she can look Imogen and Orym right in the eye because theyve been worn down in their own way too, but I don't think she can bear to see reflected in Dorian's eyes how far she's fallen. Whether I'm correct in that interpretation or not it's excellent from both of them.

@@mehmeh8403 exactly my thoughts. They absolutely held him accountable but here she Luadna gaslights Orym and no one chimes in. I was SHOUTING listening to this. Ashton going as far to puff his chest out in Orym's direction. And i gotta reiterate i have no issues with Marisha chosing to pull on these threads. It was awesome. I just couldn't comprehend how everyone watched that and didnt have their characters hold her feet to the fire. Felt like a bizzare betrayal of the characters to not have them outraged by this. Cant wrap my head around their choices. I look forward to hearing a 4 sided dive where they explain how they rationalized their actions here.

The ending was very entertaining! I really did think Imogen was going to leave Laudna. Honestly, it would've been deserved. The "I've never lied to you" right after lying to her was a crimson flag. At that point, the desperate repeating of "I love you" felt very manipulative, irrespective of whether she meant them or not. Laudna is starting to give Anakin Skywalker vibes at this point. "I'm doing this for you, but I know better so it's going to be fixed my way and F any opposition." Who knows? Maybe they're setting up a Laudna Villain turn.

Laudna: *opens her blouse* "Look what he did to me!" Really wish a party member brought up the fact that with darkness, Orym couldn't see who the assailant was. And when Orym realized who he was fighting, he switched to playing keep-away with the saber and communicating with Laudna. Also, funny sidenote from that comment, you snuck up on the highly perceptive FIGHTER who was even more vigilant after the prior nights escapades with Fearne's father, hurt him, and took his vision away along with one of their weapons. Then, act shocked when the FIGHTER fought back, its what they do and they're good at it.

@@vib2119 The takes from Orym fans are so fascinating to me. You don't see him falling down into an abyss of revenge and rage at all for some reason. Or the hypocricy of him saying that he doesn't need the help of dark forces when he spend this whole campaign pressuring others (mainly Imogen and Laudna) to give in to their dark urges so they can win this battle.
