During the World Heavyweight Championship match, Damian Priest didn’t kick out of the falcon’s arrow. This forced the referee to pretty much stop the pin without a kick out. Everyone’s wondering why Damian Priest didn’t kick out. There’s pretty much three possible reasons.

Referees get distracted by the most simplest of things, including other people’s music. For example: look at Survivor Series 2014 where Scott Armstrong could have counted the 3 count by Rollins on Dolph Ziggler but he got distracted by Sting’s music the entire time.

Playback hidden tap of Finn balor paying off the ref... which makes it that Finn got involved even though priest said not too.. which then kicks off the break up of judgment day and feud with Finn bringing back "the demon" the ref should be put out cause of the botch..

A couple things here: This ref was smartened up to but normally Refs are told to count legit. Its on the wrestlers to kick out. DP shouldve kicked regardless. 2: Production switched the lights and didn't cue the music. That 1 second stained an already rocky title run.

Yes that's what I've heard in wrestling for the longest time ( including a friend of mine that went to wrestling school ) is that no matter what, if you are a ref and you're counting and they don't kick out, than go ahead and make the 3rd count.

The deal between Rollins and Priest was that if Rollins wins, Priest is out of the Judgement Day and if Priest wins, Rollins will never get another world title shot again. But then when McIntyre got involved with the cash in and Punk getting in the way, I hope it doesn't count and Rollins can still challenge for the title, just to fix this messy finish for the world title match. Until then, McIntyre winning MITB made no sense.

Solo pinning cody makes so much sense because solo said on a recent episode of smackdown that roman couldn't pin cody at wrestlemania so they booked solo to pin cody so that solo could prove a point that he can pin cody but roman can't

I know HHH probably wants to give Sami a legitimate championship run because he's been one of the better parts of WWE since 2021, but its starting to get a bit annoying having the same story of people underestimating him and Sami defies the odds as the underdog. I dont know how long he's going to be IC champ, but they can't keep cutting other wrestlers' momentum off just to create longer title reigns. Chad should've won the belt at CatC, but now he's stuck in a seemingly directionless feud with the Wyatts. Bron should've won the belt here to continue he young Brock Lesner-like rise, but instead, he got cut off by the underdog, which could potentially kill most of his momentum unless he challenges Samimqgain at Summerslam.

I mean, playing hot potatoe with a title is not a good idea either with the reign of Gunther prior. I see this as to honor the title, something worth fighting for. I mean look at how dreadful was the intercontinental title back in 2008 and 2015. They lumped it together with the tag titles, that's how dogshit it was. I prefer having a meaningful reign than a traditional, win the title. Lose at the next PLE but that's just my opinion.

@@Dead8Headnobody has to hot potato the belt, a good 2-3 month reign or even a few weeks is good sometimes. Look at the NXT North American title. You don’t see wrestlings holding on to it forever. And it still feels important.

@Dead8Head I get that, but sometimes a short title run is a breath of fresh air and can have the same effect as a longer one. For example, imagine if Bron had beat Sami in a dominant fashion last night and went on to hold the IC belt for the rest of the year. The story behind it can be easily shaped into a story of how powerful Bron is because of the fact that he demolished the guy who took GUNTHER to the limit at Wrestlemania and is the embodiment of an underdog. It wouldn't hurt Sami's credibility since he's permanently established and would only help elevate the IC title and Bron even higher.

HHH already said that it was a production issue... Drew's music didn't play on time. I'm not a fan of the music breaking the pin but that's the way HHH booked it. Also whenever a wrestler is getting pinned they tend to look at the ref to see them count. Priest was looking at the ramp because he was expecting drew/the next cue in the match.

Drew's music not to hitting, causing the botch to occur isn't stupid. There's been times in wwe where the ref gets "distracted" of the music and him stopping the count. It's not a coincidence the drew came out seconds later.

It was Damien botch why? Falcon arrow is NOT a finisher but just a signature maneuver. And even if you say production forgot to play Drew's music, his job still needs to kick it out because refs are told to count up to 3.

1:32 how was the production team supposed to change such a convoluted and consequential finish in 10 seconds? If the ref counts to 3 then he is responsible for Punk failing to get heat with both Drew & Seth and forcing Priest out of Judgment Day. The ref had no choice.

whatever they made a mockery out of this PPV too, now, imagine not putting the briefcase on someone like LA or Andrade, someone that desperately needs it, just put it on Drew so he loses it in the same night, couldn't they just have Damien Priest vs Drew Monday, so CM Punk could have screw him then? Why just waste the briefcase? Imagine how much it would have elevated LA Knight's character at this point, fanks knowing he will get his title chance... Sometimes I wonder if Vince still has control over WWE...

It is necessary to dismiss the referee urgently. Unprofessional. He had to count down to three and show three to the announcer. And then there are the booker problems.

No excuses, Priest is WORLD CHAMPION. Even if he was told not to kick out because of the music, he should have been more attentive and notice something was off and kicked out at the last millisecond. If he was knocked out and suppose to kick out then Seth would have backed off last minute to help noticing something was off. These people are suppose to be professionals and they are use to things not going as planned. You have to think on the fly. The ref was the only one that did anything.

It’s obvious you wanted Gunther v Rollins but OBVIOUSLY it was supposed to have Drew’s theme come out mid pin. Saying that it’s stupid is ridiculous because mustafa Ali literally had the MITB in his hands then Brock’s music played and all of a sudden Ali forgot how to use his hands .

Honestly having Punk screw Drew out of winning the MITB briefcase in the first place would've made more sense. Have a spot towards the end where Drew is the last man standing and climbs up the later. Punk rushes in from the crowd and pushes the ladder over. Hits the GTS and then chokes him out with the anaconda vice taking him out of the match completely. This would've put more heat on the Punk McIntyre fued and would've protected Drew by not having him fail the cash in. Going forward, I would probably put over LA Knight but wouldn't have him cash in for a while. Spend nine months or so fighting top contenders in competitive matches to build him back up to a main event level. Then have him cash in around Elimination Chamber. This way you can hopefully keep him face even with him cashing in because he would be seen as already a world title level guy who didn't really need the cash in but used it anyways cause he earned it.

Music was supposed to hit for the big shocking moment. Ref knew that wasnt the finish, and Priest knew he wasn't supposed to kick out. They did the only thing they could have done. Counting Priest out would have ruined the entire thing. Folks in the truck blew it, cheated us out of a big pop, but the results were the same. Everything won't go as planned in life. I'm not holding on to it. Grace to those guys working hard in production.

He clearly had to kick out but didn't manage to do it because of the concussion. You can see his hands shaking during the pin and after the miss kick-out you can see him realizing the mistake and then saying something to Seth like "sorry" or "my bad" or whatever. He was clearly pissed after the match because it's the second botch in a row and this time the bad ropes are not an excuse. For whoever saying that there was a mistake on the production, maybe you're right, but Damian still had to kick out! It's not that Drew's music activating magically stops the pin or something lol

The biggest botch was giving Drew McIntyre the win at money in the bank just for him to unsuccessfully cash in. They should have given that win to someone else to push his career forward.

Do away with MITB all together, I hate the concept so much. Basically take 6 dudes that aren’t good enough to win the title the regular way, and give them a chance to win the title in the cheapest and easiest way possible. At the very least they need to change the rules to make it where you have to challenge for the belt in an actual match and not win it in a cheap way

Just in case there was a tech issue. Maybe in the future for something like this you falsely trigger the music a few times to make sure it works. Especially in this match with the false triggers it would have really made them repeatedly looking down the aisle work a bit better.

Maybe they can make a story on this to where someone, lets say Finn Balor, made a deal with the ref and the ref was to make sure Damian would not be pinned and lose. Something to where Finn will end up telling Damian that he needs the Judgement day more than he thinks, but the Judgement day may not really need Damian.

Breakker losing makes Sami look more credible. I mean he won the title off of the longest reigning champ. It makes no sense for him to lose it that quick. Drew winning MITB was pointless. I think either Jey or LA Knight should of won. Tiffany winning was the right choice. Solo pinning gets him redemption for Cody ending his winning streak before Mania 39 and also made Cody look strong. It took all 3 of them to take out Cody. Owens taking the pin would be a good idea if they were not building Solo up for eventually facing Roman.

It seems like people are talking about everything except how Seth handled it, which is to say, perfectly in my book. He didn't act like nothing weird happened or worse, berate Priest for not kicking out -- he carried on as if he thought the ref *should* have counted the pin and was pissed that he didn't. regardless of if the production team botched it or if priest got knocked out, the referee should've just called it. then when drew came out to cash in they can buy time and wait for triple h and the producers to work something out, during which punk and drew can brawl on the outside and the ref just stands there in the ring watiing for for the info on what to do next. which probably would've been what happened anyways. unless finn has something to do with it.

WWE needs to institute a policy that the referee will NOT stop the pin if the wrestler doesn't kick out even if it messes up the finish. It should be up to the wrestlers to kick out and not be saved by the ref. This is twice now that Damian Priest messed up a title match and had to be saved by the ref. They need to get the belt off of him. Clearly he's not main event material.

I don't see why you rule out Drew's theme entrance theory. That was my initial thought. Wrestlers stop doing what they're doing all the time when someone's music hit. It's dumb in all cases, but it happens, and we just sorta accept it. I'm leaning more towards Damien was knocked out, but then again, he was looking toward the entrance during the 3 count

Honestly, they should have let it play out. Seth wins, Drew goes to cash in, Punk robs him. Monday night comes around and Damien invokes his rematch clause, Judgement Day interferes, Priest wins it back and puts Seth on a rampage against them igniting a bigger rivalry between Rollins and Priest. For as good as WWE is, they do a piss poor job at calling audibles when things don't go their way

a slow count could have saved his hard and a slow setup for the ref up to the count or maybe rollins having something like a foot near his shoulder to move him on purpose and overplay losing his grip or something would've have helped alot

Its supposed to be an unexpected arrival/addition of course everyone is gonna wonder what's going on. On top of that he was mr money in the bank. The storyline is more important than the briefcase this year. The briefcase hasn’t been used well. Punk screwing drew right before he was about to cash in and win the belt. Him screwing drew when he was literally so close again does wonders

If you look at Damian Priest's right arm as they reach the 3 count it does look like his hand/arm twitches almost like he wanted to raise his arm but the nerves didn't fire. I could be 100% wrong just noticed that and thought I would share.
