I have been asking my Discord Members to send me one picture of their finished Miniatures, so I could give them Feedback. The result is a nice cross-section of different levels and styles. Let me know what you think about the minis, the type of video and the feedback given! Hopefully you can learn something for your own miniature painting as well!

@Nice Brain It's the difference between _knowing_ that fact and _feeling_ it. We aren't really mentally wired for anonymity in that way. Having a piece critiqued in front of your peers can be extremely uncomfortable, like you've been stripped naked and everyone is poking and examining your every inch. While the artists in this case do have the separation of the Internet to insulate them somewhat, our ape brains can only conceptualize that intellectually; it still _feels_ like you're being hauled in front of the class to be peeled and scrutinized like a dissected frog.

This video is amazing. It really goes to show the difference between what an amateur (myself) sees in a miniature and what a way more experienced person sees. There were several models where I thought "hey that looks pretty dang good!" and once you started explaining the criticisms I was actually able to pick it out with my own eyes and understand more of what was going on during the painting process. You see things that I would have never picked up on. Great video, I learned a lot!

I could be wrong, but my understanding of colours would mean you would need a brown/black body to draw all the colours in to. Not saying it's impossible, but the more colours to put together the harder to do it smoothly. I could be wrong though, it's happened before

I think it's kind of funny how much your helpful suggestions sound like the advice I heard in the aquarell class I took. 1) Never use the pur colours you bought. Always mix. 2) Shadows and highlights are a different colour than your base. 3) look out for your focus point. What's your composition? 4) where does the light come from and what does it touch. I like that minis and pictures are from a working perspective so similar. I think beginner's could learn also a lot from looking at other art. Some big portraits in oil for example. I know, I picked up a lot from going to a museum. Even Bob Ross thought me a thing or two. Thanks for the video. I think, I will try something with clothe next. You sparked some ideas in my brain. 😊

A MasterClass in miniature painting and art concepts for free. Thanks Trovarion for this video. Very cool! One of your most unique brilliant skills is your ability to analyze and provide useful , honest, direct feedback. Great learning experience. I don’t know if everyone realizes that Trovarion is a multiple Golden Demon winner. None of the feedback he is providing is meant with any negativity. He just has an observant eye and a teacher’s manner of giving information to use for improvement. Thumbs up for everyone who submitted their work for review (like homework) and kudos to Trovarion for also honestly reviewing and giving solid advice

This is a video from awhile ago and I’m not sure you will see this comment but this is my favorite miniature painting video of all time. I don’t interact with others who paint so the feedback is invaluable to me and listening to your reviews of these minis will really accelerate my progress. Thank you!

That dragon is a miniature of the Dragon Queen Tiamat in Dungeons and Dragons, she literally looks like that.

Shes the queen of chromatic dragons its kinda the point, I painted my own tiamat though and I agree the white and black need to not start as pure colours

@@PureCellx fair enough hoenstly, black and white don't need to be the pure colour, I find that a very light blue can often be a great base of white.
