Even if he didn't sing a part, just played the role and directed the entire show, this would be a phenomenal performance. He was a master of theatrical performance and audience engagement. He understood that we crave and pay for "spectacle"

I turned 60 this month July 2024 and I am STILL in awe with his presence. Just like my first listen to Bat out of Hell in 1977 when his voice gave me goosebumps then, it still does today. Jim Steinman and Meat are the preverbal "Yin to Yang" and one without the other is, well... Meatless Meatloaf (pun totally intended). Godspeed to them both!!! Like a Bat out of HELLLLL!!!

He always seemed like he would be a good fit for the remake, theatrical Phantom of the Opera. Instead they went with Gerard Butler. He was good I guess, but I wanted to see Meat Loaf in that role. Meat Loaf... carried the flag for us regular/not-so-pretty guys.

@@Mave_76 Patti is the one that toured with Meatloaf the longest, but Karla DeVito's the original tour singer and she could certainly hold her own next to him, and then there's the original Ellen Foley.

@@debidee5548 True. Devito was his early sidekick, but she didn't ever get to perform his later classic songs. Foley never even performed with him live (or even recorded their duet parts together). Patti did it all and did an amazing job. Her contribution to the band was only surpassed by ML & Steinman.

2012, I was fighting cancer, had gone through divorce, took a bullet through my right arm from a burglar I chased out of home, lost my best cowhorse, thought that I was ready for the end, almost begged for it. One day, a beautiful woman walked up to me in a coffee shop. Smiling as she said "I do not see a ring, does that mean you might join me for coffee?" For the first time in my life I became speechless, dumbfounded by how she approached me. I joined her for coffee, feeling like I was walking on air. She was on her break from work. We started talking, learning that we both liked each other from that first moment that our eyes met. That night I called her, made a date for that Friday night. When I went to her front door I had pulsating vibes going through me, feeling totally nervous. She came out, reached up and kissed me on the cheeks saying "I could not wait to be with you cowboy!" From that night forward for 3,141 days/night we were inseparable. on that last day she was called up to Heaven, she had earned her place in Heaven, but I cussed Him for taking her. I wanted that pain to take my life. Every night I play this song by Meatloaf, it was the song that she had playing over and over as we loved.

I never noticed before that he told her good job when they hugged. The most magical thing about Meatloaf is he aspired to be an actor. He barely had an acting career. He has some movies under his belt. A few memorable and more not. Again the magical part is he imagines a character for each album and he puts himself in that character when doing the songs. This is why is up there as one of the best performing artists. He and Freddie Mercury are on top in that category in my opinion.

If you read the list of names in that place you quickly discover that they stole the sign from the actual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Meatloaf maybe isn't "rock & roll" enough for them (lol), but he certainly would be the first induction, with Jim Steinman, to the Rock Opera Hall Of Fame. Even The Who wasn't as successful with Tommy.

I saw Meatloaf perform in 1993 at the Pier in St Petersburg, FL. It was just a small bar/nightclub. Maybe 500 of us there that night. I remember thinking to myself as I was listening to him that I was one of luckiest human beings on the face of the earth. That I didn't want to be anywhere else in the world but where I was at that exact moment. By far the best live performance I have ever seen. I literally left that night a changed person.

Man oh Man, I would have loved to see that performance in person. Unbelievable talent by every single musician there. Loved the guy on the First Chair French Horn, doing the air violin. Great camera angles. Piano player: like no big deal This is easy. Sure do miss the days of Marvin Adays music.

Meat Loaf only got better each year. His collaboration with Jim Steinman produced the best Rick operas ever. We will not see the likes of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman ever again. His talent, showmanship and vocals cannot be compared to others as his performances were perfection and his dedication to his art was unmatched. If only he had taken the Covid shots, he could be performing. Great talent and performances. We miss you.

Don't care for the background choir, but aside from that, this live performance is truly a masterpiece. It starts off good and gets better every minute, culminating in an outstanding duet...and then that pause...and then the reply....wow.

Went to see him at Wembley in 98 security went to ask his permission if I could attend his concert as I was 9 months pregnant n due the next day he brought me n the rest of our group to the front seats , n even asked if I was ok mid way through the set . He said I need d to be near security just in case . Was a true gentleman

I've read a ton of comments here and while most all of you agree with his voice and talent, to me, it's the emotion he put into his performances. In this one he makes you feel like it isn't just a song but a plea to Patti for real. The hurt look in his eyes when she sings, sooner or later you'll be screwing around. To me, it's the emotion that sets Meat Loaf apart from any of today's singers.
