@Bainsworth i dont think Klapa is older than english lol but its a genre of music. It can be just acapella singing, usually between 3 and 7 guys and at times with music. Oftentimes about heartbreak, to the point that my namesake is a girl being cried about in one of these.

Wow! Just Wow! From the Philippines here. We are not aware that there is a beautiful place in Europe such as Croatia. Most of the FIlipinos are only aware of Italy, France, Spain as their top tourist destinations in Europe. Now I know where to go in Europe. Very informative video indeed. Such a beautiful country rich with culture and history.

Volim hrvatsku. Moj otac Božo je Hrvat (podrijetlom iz Bosne i Hercegovine, rodjen u blizini tesnja), volim hrvatski jezik i hrvatsku kulturu.😃 I love croatia. My father bozho is a croat (he was born in bosnia and herzegovina, close to the city tesanj). I love croatia as a country, i love croatia, i love croatian language, croatian people and the croatian culture. Croatian language , the official language of croatia, is a southern slavic language in its origin just like bulgarian, serbian, bosnian, macedonian and slovenian language.😃

+tamsinthai It is less expensive then Italy and Spain generally. Accomodation is little more expensive then Greece. But beside that prices are lower then Greece. Food is great. If you want to know something specific just ask.

Well, come :-) as for all Mediterranean, avoid august, it’s too crowded and expensive, Dubrovnik in particular. Avoid Pag (it’s something like Ibiza in a small scale, noisy), but for a nice holiday we have so many islands ithat are awesome and many small cities along the coastline with parts of unspoiled coastline (for now). I hope you’ll like it.

Last year my Husband and I both did 23 and Me and I found out that my Greek and Balkan DNA is also still exactly the same as my British and Irish DNA both about 25%. Comes from my late Mother's side we never knew, but hey, I have Third and fourth Cousins in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Montenegro as well. So beautiful there would love to go there, but getting around is not so easy anymore. I have contacted one of my third Cousins there and sometimes message with her Granddaughter who speaks English, sadly my 98 year old Croatian Cousin passed the end of 2019. Thanks for the lovely video.

Croatia was simply beautiful. Went in August 2018 with my wife for our honeymoon. Could not have picked a better destination. The crowds during the summer months are rough. Hvar is overrun with young adults from all over Europe. Plitvice Lakes was one long line. It was like waiting 2 hours for a ride at Disneyland. Luckily the beauty was worth the wait. Be prepared for long lines!

History rich country with all the ancient high cultures lived there or used the harbors and trading routes, that's for sure. Enjoyed my holidays at the end of the 1980'ies in Croatia. But missed the national parks like with the Plitvice Lakes :( ... should travel soon again to Croatia I guess :)

Croatia is one of the best states in Europe when it comes to natural wonders in my opinion. It's amazing. Greetings from Prague - Czechs love Croatia. I especially loved the sailing we did with friends through Kornati national park and surrounding areas/islands.

Imagine that croatia, a nazi-oriented society since 1920, was invited at this anti-fascist ceremony!!!, Croatia proportionally killed the most civilians in WW2: 2 million croatian killed 700,000 civilians, which every 3rd croatian killed at least 1 women or child which places Croatia as the top country with the largest criminal record in the world.

Hi there Rick Steve's, I'm a Croatian who lives in Canada and I love how you represent my beautiful homeland. I am a musician and because of this I want to suggest more appropriate music to this segment. Many of the songs are Macedonian or Serbian. I would like to suggest more appropriate Croatian Klapa or Korculian Folklore music that you can use. Once again thank you for presenting Croatia in this segment. your fan, Matija Pavković

+Mate Pavković , Excellent point. Westerners/US folks are still learning the distinctions between Serb and Croat. Personally, I respect the Croats and am thrilled they have reclaimed their stunning country! I love it there!

Great place. Best islands and coastline in world . Has 1200 islands but a lot closer to one another and more dense than Greece thus more spectacular and easier to island hop
