For anyone that needs it: If using a thicker bulkier yarn, chain 24 for the first color and chain 16 for the second color.

Totally agree that going by measurements is best especially for a hat. We all have different tension. So our gauge is different.

So I am making it with chunky 100% acrylic yarn and did 27 + 18 (instead of +20), so i can divide it to 9. (The yarn says it is meant for 7 mm hook, but i am using 5 mm. ) Idk if this helps anyone, maybe future me when I come back to make another one with this tutorial lol.
