This is a step-by-step tutorial to make crochet checkered shorts. The pattern is very customizable and can be adjusted depending on your size. Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll try my best to answer them!
Materials Used:
• 2 Colors of Worsted/Medium (4) Weight Yarn
• 4.5 mm Crochet Hook
• Darning Needle
• Scissors
Helpful Information:
Women's Small (Pink & White):
• ~145 g of pink yarn
• ~101 g of white yarn
• 120 rows on waistband
Men's Small (Brown & White in thumbnail):
• ~164 g of brown yarn
• ~115 g of white yarn
• 140 rows on waistband

I started in september 2023 but I made it to the endddddd thank you so much for the pattern, the explanations. I added a row of "finishing" (idk how to describe it) and I am so happy with the result. I made it green and white !

Oh my gosh this so amazing! I've been looking for ways on how to put the drawstring through the waistband like that but pretty much all the videos I've found before this one wouldn't show how to do that. Thank you so much for adding that in, it's so much clearer now!

I’m crocheting the shorts right at the moment and I’m not sure whether I have to somehow increase the number of the chains in each round? Like if I don’t increase it, won’t it be too thigh over my a#s? I’m in round three of the checker squares btw

for what I understand. the waist wrap is gotta be the size of your hips, so it would fit right

Hi! I’m loving the shorts so far. I’m having some trouble when I’m making the leg holes. I have 18 squares in a round so I need 9 squares on each side right? Well when I slip stitch into the midpoint and turn my shorts around I end up with the same color square as my current working yarn instead of my second color.I didn’t change color like it said but now I’m wondering if I should do it anyway? I’m not sure where I went wrong?

i like to try on the shorts as i go! for the rise, before making the leg holes, i try it on like a skirt with the bottom lining up right where your legs split. if you’re happy with the rise, then you can start the leg holes! if not, keep going with rows and try it on again until you like where it sits on your waist :) let me know if that makes sense!

Hii, what do you mean when you say 2 inches for stretching? Do I have to make it so it wraps around and then 2 extra inches? or make it 2 inches shorter?

crochet is stretchy so size down 2in basically. One all your stitches relax it will have some give. So if you have your waistband a lil smaller then it won’t stretch out too big

if you adjust the sizing, it should fit! you could try starting the leg holes a row of squares earlier (to make the rise shorter), and also make the length of the shorts shorter by doing less rows of squares when making the leg holes

Hi, this shorts resembles so much of @crochetwithluv_ ‘s checkered shorts. If you can, please take this down. she released her pattern on March and there’s a high chance that you modified the pattern
