When you chain one before you flip make it as tight as you can. It smooths out the edges of your ribbing

You might be making your stitches too tight or using to small of a crochet hook i reccomend a 5 mm crochet hook

A lot of clothes have ribbed borders, like sleeves, collars, etc. sweaters n whatnot. Doesn’t look weird
