Bronislava - these are lovely, thank you so much for all your time and effort on KZfaq. I was given some alpaca yarn for Christmas, which is beautiful, but there is only one skein of each colour and I didn't want to use the colours together. This pattern is perfect and I'm part way through my second glove - I'm just on KZfaq checking your pattern again. I've just been reading all the lovely comments and I can see everyone feels the same! Take care and thanks again x

If you're crocheting too tight if I may recommend try starting your chain with a larger hook. Get yourself comfortable & relax. Most of all make sure you pull your yarn to the Widest part of the hook. (Not the top, it's smaller). Hope you find this helpful as I did. Stumbled across a video about this and other issues commonly used. 🤗 Happy crocheting 🙂

Thank you so much for this video, I have watched it through, then rewind an followed your hand on joining stitches into a circle, I felt so oh no I have to join a circle as I always end up with a twist, all the helpful way to avoid a twist, never work, but I followed your hands closely, joined mind an completed first row, feeling so nervous as got to end, and wha yay, no twist, I am a chronic pain sufferer, so had to be happy with the happy chair dance. ha ha. I am halfway through using multi-coloured yarn, and it is delicious. thank you so so much Branislava. I have subscribed to your page, looking forward to learning from you. have crochet for 30 odd years an still learning. Blessing to you.

Oh that's a great idea. Especially for my stepmother, she's crocheting blankets and scarves everyday. Thanks Bronislava! I started working with my knitting needles today while using your knit video suggestions but I really need to practice. That last loop is always so loose and a lot of times my stitches are really tight and hard to stitch off. Would you have any suggestions? Also, I have short knitting needles connected by a "cable"...I bought them thinking I'd eventually need them. Are they for hats do you think? Have you ever used them? Thanks
@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 8 жыл бұрын
+Raven Claw1280 yes, when you start working with two "sticks" (one in each hand) instead of just one stick (a hook in only one hand) it can be a little confusing to the brain... I would suggest to go really slow and practice one task at a time until you are good at it = practice first cast on (CO), and when you are good at that, only then practice knit stitch only - knit knit knit knit ..... many rows (make a dishcloth)... when you are good at that, then practice only purl... then after you are good at that do K1, P1 exercise - everything that you will do - do VERY slowly so brain has time to figure out how you should hold your needles (continental? English?) and how you should hold yarn - I always tell my students let your body and brain lead you - do not fight it... no need to do it my way, chose your way how you are comfortable - you will find the best way for you.... that is why many of the knitting and crocheting vloggers (like myself) knit and crochet differently from each other... each is holding their tools how it is comfortable to them.... I tend to knit loosely almost entire row and pull tighter at the end of the row - so it doesnt have "stretched out" look the cable needles are indeed for hats and other small items... you can also use them even if you are not knitting hat... instead of knitting in round you can knit back and forth just like with regular knitting needles gosh I got carried away - need to get back to my video editing.... LOL

@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 7 жыл бұрын
Hi - it depends how much smaller you need them - 3 or 6 stitches less (the pattern is multiple of 3 sts) - or you have another choice - use thinner yarn (light weight, #3) and smaller sized hook thank you for watching my video and commenting

Thank you for that. It was very clear. I made one so far a bit shorter in the wrist but very cosy. Can I ask you a question? If I made a hat to match what would be the chain multiple I would need?
@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Adrienne, can you measure the circumference of your glove, count how many multiples (repeats) you have in there... then measure the circumference of the head, and from there try to mathematically figure out how many multiples you will need - I would need for my head approximately the number of the multiples on my fingerless glove x (times) 3 (and if I would like to have it tighter around my forehead then probably minus one or two repeats)

If we wanted it to be smaller what should we do. Should it be a multiple of 3. My hand is 18 chains around the knuckle.
@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 9 жыл бұрын
EverAfterHighLover 1 thank you for your inquiry - I went to check my written pattern and found several errors (which I corrected right away) yes it is multiple of 3 sts, and I have total 10 repeats around the wrist.... If your hand is really small then you can do either 18 sts, or 21 sts (depending on the yarn) if it would be a little tight with 18 sts (total 6 repeats) then you could do 21 sts (total 7 repeats)... for the thumb I would probably do one less row... and then finish as the rest of the glove in the video with only same repeats as around wrist.... thank you for watching my video :-)

My question to you is - does your width of your arm part matches the width of your palm? If you think of it the arm/palm part is the same width, and then there are increases to form the thumb.

Thank you for answering my question. I just added another row in the thumb increase taking it to 15 instead of 13 stitches and it fits comfortably. Thank you again for your tutorials. (39 was way too big, 36 is a little loose but comfortable. If I make them again, I will try 33. but that might be too tight in the arms)

If you wanted to make the bottom part that goes over arm a lil wider would you just chain more than 30?
@HandMadeRukodelky

Melissa - you would need to do 2 extra stitches, or 6 extra stitches - depending how much wider you want it - this pattern is a multiple of 3... with those 3 sts would get almost 1" extra, 6 will give you little less than 2" extra

Could you tell me if this is stretchy? I would like to make a pair for someone as a surprise and I don't know how the size of her hands compare to mine...

+Jane Liu Anything knitted or crocheted is a little stretchy - this fits about medium sized hand (I am between small and medium) - they have room for bigger hand than mine... for small hand they would be big... for small hand I would do one less repeat, for large hands I would do one extra repeat... how ever these would stretch a little for bigger hand than medium size....

Help! :) ok so I started making these but bought a #5 bulky yarn, I followed along with the video and have completed my 7 rows. The glove is HUGE! since I've used this type of yarn should I have done less chains in the beginning? Less than 30? I'm torn with just finishing (right now it fits my husbands large hands but the yarn is girlie) or ripping out all stitches and starting over. I'm nervous about the thumb if I start over with less stitches. Thank you in advance!

Oh and the label said use a US K-10 hook (6.5mm) so I'm using a K 6.5mm hook. Maybe I should have used a smaller hook and get a smaller glove?

+Nicole Arntz OK - you need to start on less stitches - tell me how wide it is (around circumference) - we need to first figure out how many sts you need to start on... then we will deal with thumb

+Nicole Arntz Perhaps you should start on 26 sts and do 8 repeats (instead of 10 repeats)???

I keep having the same problem with every pattern for gloves, my rows keep increasing and I dont know what im doing wrong :( so discouraging any advice?
@HandMadeRukodelky
@HandMadeRukodelky 8 жыл бұрын
+Emily Morse sorry to hear that - I think you are adding stitches either in the beginning of the row or at the end of the row (some crocheters add stitches, some decrease) - which should not happen if you are crocheting in the round, because of the way this pattern is worked out in the round... are you having the same problem in the round, too?
