Hi Alana! New Subscriber here 😻😻 Glad to have found you and I will be visiting your website and Etsy store. I have been crocheting 51 yrs this month!!! I am surprised at all of the new things I have learned in the past 12 yrs that I've been on KZfaq. You NEVER stop learning! We are so lucky nowadays to have the internet and all of the wonderful creators such as yourself that share so generously with us. I make baby blankets for my church and I've not sent a chevron in a while. I'm going to use your pattern and start one this week. This eyelet chevron is my favorite. Happy Crocheting!

I am using the blue and white as u did. I made this Afghan when my mom taught me at 7 how ever she taught me one way so at the end I always ended up adding a stitch or losing one she always said u will catch on well I never did until I seen how u. Did it so much easier so much I stay even on the ends lol I've done your pattern for my granddaughter in pink blue and black she loved it thank you so much for the get out of town story it makes it so much easier to remember.

The number of chains at the beginning is 15 x n + 1. The host used 121 to reach about 32” width, and made a 32” x 44” blanket.

@karenh2890
@karenh2890 5 ай бұрын
@debbiehotchkiss1785 That would be the number of pattern repeats. So, it takes 15 chains to go up the hill and down the hill. In her case, n was equal to 8. So she repeated the pattern eight times. You could do double that to make a blanket that was approximately 64" wide instead of 32". Hope this makes sense.

When you mentioned remembering the end of the row by keeping out of the town, I had to laugh. Years ago, when my daughter had to remember how to label a map with the Great Lakes, we came up with 'So my horse eats oats'. Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. That was back before smartphones or even a computer in the home, so we just made up something my daughter could remember.🤪
@Vexling
@Vexling 8 ай бұрын
You coincidentally came up with something that has been used for at least 60 yrs, probably longer tbh. This is exactly how I was taught to remember the names of the Great Lakes when I was in elementary school 20+ yrs ago. My grandmother, who was history teacher, taught it to my mom and she then taught it to me when I needed to know them for a presentation. When I moved to a different state at the beginning of high school a few years later our geography teacher taught the class the names the same way but with a slight spin, his was “so my homie eats oatmeal” 😂 The memory technique used here is what’s called short mnemonic device. Roy G. BIV to remember the order and colors of the rainbow would be an example of another very common one. The story Alana came up with to remember is also a type of memory device that’s similar but I don’t think it’s quite mnemonic but I’m not sure.

Sorry Meghan, I honestly don't know/remember. It's been a long time since I've made this and I gave it to charity. Ummmm.. I did 3 rows of each color and it looks like there's roughly maybe 15 color changes, so maybe 45 to 60 rows. Ugh. I wish I could remember.
