We honestly felt lucky to make it back to mainland... Episode 54 | What a WILD day at sea. We set out to find an island out off the Cape York Coastline and we got way more than expected. The fishing was insane on the way out with double hookups on HUGE FISH, Mackerel and Trevally. We had wild seas all day but the island we found did not disappoint. It truely blew my mind with an internal lagoon of crystal clear water and loaded with marine life... including a big SALTWATER CROCODILE, we did not expect this... We hear stories of crocodiles at sea but to see them was amazing. Hope you all enjoy it.

Many years ago - late in the 60s, I was serving aboard HMAS Diamantina, which was an oceanographic survey vessel. We were somewhere between Timor & Northern Australia, when came across, then drew alongside, an enormous salty. Judging his size in relation to the ship, we guesstimated his length (or hers) at somewhere between fifteen and eighteen feet. At the time we were more than a hundred to two hundred miles from the nearest land. Strange thing was the crocodile was quite steadily cruising along, heading a little northeast. Didn’t seem in any particular hurry… The other incident that came to mind, watching your video, happened aboard the same ship. A common tactic with dirty mops was to put a couple of clove hitches round the handle & stream them over the side. Couple minutes in the briny at 12/15 knots and the mop came back sparkling clean. I was watching one of the crew doing exactly that one day. All he got back was about half the wooden handle. Whatever chomped it, must have been pretty substantial. Those of us standing about got a good laugh - made even better when the crew member came back spewing that he’d been made to pay for the mop.

@@madkeenbushman1958 Its pretty amazing how far they roam. Iv seen a documentary where a big croc is tagged and they track it from the territory right down thru the gulf, then up past Weipa to Crab Island for turtle hatchlings and then all the way back to the territory! crazy.

Interesting comment on Viva toweling. Maybe Viva uses a different formulation in Australia ,but my experience with Viva in the US is that it leaves streaks and smears on my glasses, glass, and optics. I use it extensively on my guns ,fishing reels, and in doing household chores. Great product.
