I am surprised more gastro doctors don't discuss diet outcomes. I have had Crohns for 13 years and have tried a range of medications including biological with 3 different doctors. None worked long term. I discovered a low carb diet over a year ago and have been symptom free since then. A real life changer. It is very disappointing this isn't now standard as I have seen thousands of people discover the same results with no medication. Give it a try, KZfaq has lots of information about how to do it.

@@bobobogdy100 Keto or Carnivore diet. Does it work? I'm on the Carnivore diet now for 5 weeks. I've seen some improvement myself already. I call it baby steps. I've had CD for over 20 years and each year have felt worse. I've been on IV treatment for about 14 years now but just kept going down hill. I'm hopping this diet change helps and I keep seeing improvement. I did eat a ton of carbs and some sugar before. look up Dr Ken Berry, Dr Chaffee and even more talk about this.

After my chrons disease diagonisis 8 years ago, I stopped all the chrons disease medicines/treatment prescribed due to severe side effects, and decided to go on natural herbal approach. My primary care provider introduced me to Dr folonsho and immediately started on their chrons disease herbal formula treatment, this herbal treatment made a tremendous difference for me. my symptoms including shaking, diarrhea, vomiting, blood stool, fatigue, abdominal pain, stomach pain, excruciating pain and urinary retention all disappeared after the 1 month treatment, contact Dr folonsho the herbal healer

Interesting. But also interesting that there was zero mentions of micro nutrient status and supplementation. I remember a study on Adalimumab from a few years ago that shows that Adalimumab is basically useless if the patient has a low Vitamin D level. As there are many micro nutrients known that are low before someone develops CD and also often get even lower with CD, I'm not sure if concentrating just on biologicals makes much sense. 25y long CD patient here with experience in 5ASA, Prednison, Budenosid, Azathioprine, Adalimumab+bio-similar and Ustekinumab.

surprised that the risk of multiple sclerosis was not mentioned related to anti-tnf therapies. I was on anti-integrin for 4 years then was diagnosed with MS. the first thing the neuro asked me was whether or not I was on an anti-TNF. remicade has a warning label about this. I just wonder how widely understood it is amongst doctors.

I don’t think anyone with these issues is having a deficiency of a “prescription drug” in their bodies. What is the ROOT CAUSE of the problem that is causing the symptoms?

They don't know. The body's immune system is attacking itself and no real cause has been found.

Because we don't know the actual cause of the disease, triage is the first useful thing we can do. By reducing the number of severe outcomes and surgical interventions in the short term, we can buy researchers time to more deeply study the disease's etymology and figure out how to address that in the long-term. I say all of this as someone who has managed to control disease (for the most part) exclusively through diet and mild steroids for the occasional mild flare-up: Crohn's Disease is a different disease for everyone, and there is no one-size-fits-all natural solution for everyone, especially those with more severe disease.

@@stevecif you are clearly in the Western Medicne "mindset". There is a cause.....and it's not the same for everyone......it's either a Chemical, Physical or Emotional root cause...... I personally worked with a Functional Medicine Dr. who did "Functional" lab testing and found that I had an imbalanced microbiome, a parasite, a elevated viral load and elevated level of a few environmental toxins. I went through an entire 1 year protocol to address all of these issues and then rebalance my immune system......and guess what......all my symptoms went away on their own......my Dr. Didn't treat my SYMPTOMS......we worked at detoxing and bringing back my health and the symptoms all subsided. You don't know the cause......because you don't know how to "look for it". Thankfully these are more and more Doctors who are realizing this and changing their ways. Seek out Dr. Mark Hyman on KZfaq and watch his videos.

Very interesting video, however, in practice how many Gastroenterologists are using this type of information as a thesis towards their recommended treatments. It still seems a layered approach with steroids/Immunosuppresants on diagnosis followed by Biologics and Surgery. I have had Crohns for 13 years now and only this year has Biologic therapies been discussed, and indeed because of the pandemic discounted because of the potential effect on COVID Vaccine efficacy.
