You absolutely can bean a player in Bases Loaded. I remember that each team has one "hothead" player that would rush the mound if hit and get ejected.

It's amazing you managed to avoid losing a life in City Connection for the entirety of your discussion about the game until the very end. I tried a rom one time for the NES version and couldn't get past the first level because of all those things that could kill me! So I raged quit and didn't look back since. Good to see I'm not the only one put off by that game's unfair difficulty!

I wish Racket Attack was on there played that game a lot at my uncles when I was a kid on the NES. Jaleco made that game

As for the Jaleco Collection, I wasn't interested in getting this to begin with. And now after hearing what you had to say about it as a whole, I see I had every right to be skeptical about it. So, thanks for addressing those concerns of mine!

Another great review. To be honest, I was hoping this cart would be better, as the game selection initially looked very good. I had expected the brawlers, EDF and City Connection to be better, but oh well. On the positive side, Operation Logic Bomb and Totally Rad were games I had no expectations for, which seem to be real gems. I will be buying this cart for those, as well as The Ignition Factor.

Earth Defense Force on the SNES is way better than the arcade game it's based on. More weapons to choose from. Harder game to play through due to having only three continues and those mode 7 effects put the finishing touches on it. Best game on this collection.

I'm getting volume 1 &2

Honestly, this looks worth it for Totally Rad (which I loved as a kid) and The Ignition Factor (which I've always wanted to try) alone. Everything else is just gravy.

Omg city connection that was my junior year pizza beer and arcade games...the jitter wasn't that bad but that was wow over 30years ago so could be retro eyes

Quite a few of these are on Switch Online for anyone without an Evercade. Also nobody probably talks about Earth Defense Force because of games like Gradius 3 and UN Squadron coming out earlier. Or any of the Lightning Force games.

I think you should check out Touhou Luna Nights for the Switch its really good and as longtime Touhou series fan I give that one my seal of approval!

Quite an obscure collection. The weirdest part is the SNES games look better than the NES titles. That usually is not the case at all with any of the other collections I have seen before.

I agree with your ratings except for me Ignition Factor is a 5 despite the rough edges. Until somebody makes a better semi-realistic firefighting game, there’s just nothing that does it better.

Cool. Too bad Rushing Beat games on the cart are the ported versions. I remembered back in the day how cool it was when we did use that code to turn Brawl Brothers into Rushing Beat 2. A few years later I bought the SNES cartridge converter and luckily got the entire Rushin Beat series Japanese carts. I finally had to get the Japanese versions, because the 3rd game Peace Keepers, they changed all the dialogue pics with real photos instead of the anime looking ones, also the super moves were even replaced, and most of the music were changed to ambient sounds. Still this is a pretty nice collection even with some number of bad Jaleco entries.

Why is your face looks like you just get back from long medieval war campaign?

I have to disagree with you on Astyanax. This game is a dumpster fire. Not only is it clunky, but there are annoying flying enemies that literally respawn the instant you kill them, so you may as well just not attack them and try to dodge their bombs the entire game. There is NO WAY to skillfully dodge anything. It's like one of those trash games that give you a lot of health because they know the gameplay mechanics are garbage. It does nothing more than drill away at your patience. For a game with a five minute long story intro it sure disappoints. I'd give it no more than a 2.
