Wow.. Many many years ago I clearly chose Crosman over a Gamo breakbarrel.. Never regretted my .177 Crosman Phantom, which shoots fantastic.. But, nowadays; I'd absolutely go with a Gamo Swarm breakbarrel over something like this rifle featured here..

When you get one and have the time, review the relatively new Hastan SpeedFire Magnum 1250 .22. Only multi-shot break barrel magnum on the market besides Gamo's version. Very few reviews on it, probably not a good sign.

I purchased a Steel eagle a number of years ago and I had high hopes it was going to be a real step forward for Crosman, turned out to be the only rifle I couldn't get to shoot well in my life time. I tried everything conceivable but to no avail, it has since went to the garbage pile as I wouldn't even keep it for parts, as I doubt I will ever purchase another one

Looks almost identical to my Benjamin Vaporizer 177. Edit: just realized crosman made Benjamin lol. Anyways besides it being a heavier rifle its a great gun. It was my first rifle .. then i bought the Gamo Magnum in 22. At 10m i can put 3 shots in the same hole .. pretty accurate gun. Scope is pretty decent too.. definitely better than the Gamo scope. Only negative i havw is its heavy.

That's a bit weird Rick. I was just looking at this Crosman last night and checking out reviews. Today you have the review I was looking for. Saved me some trouble. They have refurbished models on sale pretty cheap, but now I remember why I stick with Spanish, German or UK made breakbarrels. Would love to see a review on the Norica ZRS that Pyramid Air now offers. Very interesting zero recoil system but a but pricey.

Yeah you might have gotten a bad one plus it sitting around so long is it good for the seals out-of-the-box mine was getting just under 15 foot-pounds of energy and 177 and 10 out of 12 shots were at a bottle top size at 25 yards the only bad thing that happened to me was the scope but it came with broke but it's shooting much better now that it is broken in

Ok wish I would have seen this review earlier, my first air gun when I got back into them was the MAG-FIRE in a .177 ... Had the same problem, clean the barrel and all. What I found out is (before I got sick), Is that the baffle system in it is a poor design... the flip back and forth, with no were for the air to go... (the Benjamin Prowler has the same design...) that one does not shoot good either... What I end up doing is drilling relief holes in the shroud... 4 on the top pointing at an angle forward like an air stripper, 3 on each side on the 1st 3 indented slots... now I measured them out, so they matched the baffle pointing out in the shroud... The groupings got a lot better, however still only a 10/15-yard air gun... Seen you-tube later were someone just drilled out the 4 dented slots at the end of the muzzle... will be trying that on the Benjamin... FYI the Benjamin trail has a different baffle... but has different threading and will not screw on the MAG-FIRE or Benjamin Prowler... All in all, almost gave up on air gunning because of this non-American made air gun.... JUST SAYING... Big C 😎, FYI my $70 Gamo Rocket (Real springer,) will shoot rings around the Crosman...👍

I grew up loving Crosman products. I'm starting to avoid them as a rule. As a Canadian who until recently had to endure the < 500fps rule for pellet rifles, Crosman always ended up with ~420fps on their "495fps" rifles, adding insult to the toy-like velocities they defaulted to. I dare anyone on this entire planet to use any alloy pellet in the Crosman F11 I have & get anything > 450fps. I got 449fps with a 9.7gr alloy pellet once, and that only after I shimmed it 3mm. I don't think you can get a smaller .22 pellet. Now that I've got my gun license, I can buy any pellet rifle I want - and I was looking at this one due to the 'QuietFire' suppression on the barrel since I need something quiet. I thought ok, 975fps, should get 900fps with lead pellets ~14.3gr, subsonic, just what I need. Now I'm seeing sub-700 velocities, 16ft-lbs, 83 dB, huge groupings at 15yards (14.3gr Crosman Premier hollow point pellets), cheap mags with picky compartments, not to mention sharp edges & a lousy trigger - I can't think of a single reason to get this rifle. Then I watched a review of a Gamo Swarm Magnum G3. It shot the same pellets at 997fps, 28.8 ft-lbs, only 72 dB consistently, tight groupings at 30yards (14.6gr H&N Trophy pellets), mags aren't as picky with pellet types or weights. I've heard a lot of claims of Gamo owners on Reddit about Gamo being of questionable quality, but if something breaks, it's not exactly a huge investment - and at least you're getting performance while it lasts. And maybe Gamo have upped their game, who knows - but it's worth the risk, IMO. All brands do the "Alloy pellets in an ideal scenario where the planets align just right...." velocities, but there should be a recognized standard that prevents them from printing an "up to" velocity if it's not true. Consensus from reviewers seems to suggest we subtract ~30% of 'up to' velocity when using regular-joe pellets. The manufacturer should have to prove the max velocity once, identify the pellet used, at what altitude, etc. At this point, Gamo or Crosman can say "up to 3000fps" & they'd get away with it. With my new patented "NAH, UH, PROVE IT!" (NUPI) rating, if they can't prove the speed, they don't get to claim it. The Crosman Mag Fire .22 Ultra has NUPI velocity of 692 fps, 15.2 ft-lbs which I saw on another channel.

@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb Жыл бұрын
Those shots were after we cleaned the barrel..... and when needed, we always do. We show out-of-the-box results. If those are not up to expectations, then we do what we need to try and get it shooting as it should.. 95 out of 100 guns don't need anything to shoot like they should. It's the exception, not the rule, that we need to clean the barrel first. Cheers AGW

@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb Жыл бұрын
Totally depends on the gun. Modern, decent guns work right out of the box. Break in is also not what it used to be. Most guns just shoot without the old school methods. I have not seen any real advantage in cleaning and break in over just shooting it as it comes out of the box. There are always exceptions to that, but with what I’ve been shooting, it’s been all good. Cheers AGW

Seems to be a lot of crosman butthurt here. Note on the triggers, the bearing mod alone just reduces pretravel and does not reduce the safety of the mechanism. Besides that, i can say from my own experience that gamos have consistently improved upon themselves over the last 15 years while crosman has remained the same old pigs in fancier, cheaper, more tacticool dress. Even their centerpoint brand scopes have gone down the toilet since they dumped leapers as their manufacturer in 2012. Gamo is not my absolute favorite, and i personally have no use for the swarm mech, but they absolutely blow crosman/benjamin out of the water in value and performance.

@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb Жыл бұрын
Think what you want.. I really don't care.. but for the sake of those that will read your comment and not understand the point of this video and how I work, I will reply. I went into this as any person buying it off the street would experience. That's what I do with ALL my out of the box videos. I get to the other stuff, i.e. extensive pellet testing, etc., after the out of the box portion. 90% of what we get in these days just works.. right out of the box. no break in needed, no barrel cleaning needed, no fuss. That alone needs to be part of the discussion. Velocity is not going to improve with break in.. it will get slower. Accuray "might" improve, but after 15 years of doing this.. When a gun shoots like this out of the box, it's not getting better no matter how much you shoot it to "break it in." It's possible that sitting has impacted the gas ram... that's also a discussion to have. I've had more gas rams fail just sitting in a gun case, than I ever had metal springs fail, even when cocked for long periods of time. Additionally, you have ZERO idea of the time I spent off camera (it was hours) doing whatever I could to try and make this gun shoot well. It's been a very long time since I've had a Gamo shoot this poorly out of the box, maybe never. It's why I said maybe I have a bad gun?? All my emails to crosman (in the past) go unanswered.. I'd be more than pleased to take another look at another one and see if this one was just a dud. So again.. think what you want.. say what you want, but the premises and assumptions of your comment were just wrong. Cheers AGW
