Cross Century Lustrous Chrome Review

Review on the Cross Century Lustrous Chrome ballpoint pen and comparison with a couple of previous versions made in USA. Until 1970s-1980s the Lustrous Chrome used to have a metal ridged grip where the fingers meet and sometime in the 1980s-1990s it was dropped and unfortunately make this pen model look nice but slippery after a long time of writing. Cross should bring back the ridged pard for a firmer grip. I compared teh current model made in China versus a 1970s with grip area and a 1980s US made with no more grip and a Chrysler logo and feel this model needs the metal grip unlike the golden pens which don't get slippery despite the smooth finish.

My pen is China made. There's some gap between upper barrel and lower barrel. Is there any way to fix it? Thanks for video.

Well, current China made pens do tend to easily have this gap, you may just carefully twist while pushing the ends together to have them fit nicely. This is a inevitable fault as 1970's US made Cross pens had thicker gauge metal and joined easier than today's thinner Chinese made. Again, a slight fault that happens with all Centuries today but just a slight twist and push should make ends fit well. Good luck!

I have 2 cross pen silver Nd golden silver 1 got damage so where to change it pl advise is it repairable

Cross can repair vintage Century pens. They have spares or can try to repair the same parts depending on damage. contact them directly to ask their local repair center depending on the country you're located. Good luck!

Hi, well it's kind of hard to tell, if I only refer to fancy or refillable fine pens maybe close to 800 more or less, without counting on cheap everyday disposable pens.... Thanks for watching!

@@senorstationery5503 hi .. thank you for you answer ... If there are no ring in twist of the pen in silver or chrome classic cross pen ... So what about the black colour of cross pen ballpoint .. is there free ring in the twist??

@@ramywaheed8944 Yes in chrome and silver there is no middle ring, on classic black pen there is a golden ring with same gold plated metal. There was also a classic black in chrome finish with middle chrome ring, and that's it. Hope this helps and thanks for writing!

@@ramywaheed8944 The Century Classic with gold accents was the first one introduced in 1982, later came the gray matte finish with chrome accents in 1986, and later on came the other versions in other colors with chrome finish in the 1990s. This model would be considered the Century Classic as the model name.

It uses the Cross Narrow ballpoint refill, the one that screws to teh metal mechanism.

@@darrencen6934 Oh my! Hard surface but could have been worse on a porous surface. Glad it's safe and better be kept in a pen case while moving it around :)
