Been running mine for the last 6 months over everything. And have no problems. Love the scale looks. Not a competition crawler but then it's not supposed to be. Love this truck.

thank you for an honest review. Seems like so many of the reviews today are sugar-coated.

Just for those who don't know: the difference in the detail is achieved though the molding process. Lexan bodies are vacuum formed onto a plug, the hard bodies are injection molded into an actual high quality mold like your scale model kits. Also how the parts are made for full sized vehicles and numerous other products. The vac form body is usually a plaster or wood plug. I can make one for about $100 on my cnc machine. (Once the design is done). To make an injection mold, that could cost $500,000.00. Back in the 90's I had a small one made and it cost me $55,000.00 CDN.

They came out with a new transmission for this, it is the GB2. I wonder if you can do a review on it, perhaps it will make the difference for those of us that are on the fence about this vehicle. Thank you

Your assessment is spot on! I am experiencing all the same issues. The only difference is that I stripped the front diff gear instead of stripping the tranny. I have even changed out and used the rear shock re-location kit. Better but still tipsy. The struggle is real about drive train slop and main axle coming off. The detail is amazing though.

Well now we see the price paid to get the floor of the interior so low. Maybe the floor can be cut and a rc4wd or axial trans can be fit, it is imo one of the best looking crawlers with the best upgrades stock outta the box out there.Any way great video and much appreciated!

"Its an unlicensed body so it's not scale" Sorry man but Scale and Licensed are not synonymous. It absolutely does not have to be officially licensed to in fact be "scale".

Thanks for actually running the truck for a couple months before the final review. I have the suv model the B so the middle hardbody with interior. Had the same issues it's fun to build but there are some issues with lash and stuff the biggest problem is that you can't swap parts from shall I say differently designed company's because of how well cross jams all the parts in. We use the hardbody trucks more for trail trucks and they are great for that. That being said I just ordered their newest model but in lexan

I'm in the market for a new crawler and have watched most of the available videos, comparing all the competition. Thanks for all the shootouts and detailed videos you've done! I want to love this truck. It looks so damn cool and scale. To me, this truck is the best looking, period. But, the drivetrain does not appear to be competition worthy.

Thank you for being honest! I really love the look of this RC but I'm not sure if I want to deal with its flaws. If I do decide to get one at least I will know what I'm getting and won't be overly disappointed with its problems because you have shown me what they are.

The other cross rc vehicle is a lot better than this one, the rtr version aussie rc reviewed, it's excellent🙂👍 this model is the 1st version, they totally fixed all these problems.

Who cares if the switch was under the hood. This truck is awesome. It is a little heavy but makes the realism of the truck more accurate. Instead of having a lexan body. I have the sp4c and it's awesome.

Funny I've been running mine for 3 years without issue with gearing. Only thing I've changed on the c version is shorter shocks upright in the rear , weighted wheels and two links as stiffeners between the link mounts. That's it and it will keep up with anything on the market. Might want to look at your actual driving as far as the tranny gears . Sounds more like it was caused by possibly trying to throttle out of a bind which would be havok on any system

I believe the large amount of play is in the diffs. I have a kr4, which is very similar, and it has that problem. Im looking to see if i can find some that are alot stiffer

Have the SP4 and its a nice truck a lot nicer when I put 10.2 axles took out the slop :D Who knows maybe capra axles one day :D

About transmition freeplay. I compared cross rc demon to trx4, vaterra, cmx, axial. All this chasis have same freeplay as cross rc. There is one real problem with stock deamon and its rear shock position. The problem can be solved with shock relocation kit.

@RC Review was this the most expensive option kit with the Metal rear frame Steel driveshafts G1R axles with metal gears CNC aluminum axle housing with CVD's or is this the cheaper version? is that why the axles are poop and there is play in the tires?

Actually, RedCat can learn from these guys by paying close attention to the details of a proper kit, I mean, who gives a kit that is already assembled like their Gen8, where's the fun in that? This also would've been a bargain for me if it weren't for the horrifically loose Drivetrain that seemed to be made by Lego. But overall these things can be solved and it is still one heck of a kit!

THAT requires attention on THEIR part. Yes, proper assembly is needed... But you Guys are NOT N00bs!! You know what you're doing! If YOU'RE having issues, imagine someone with little experience building one. Also, IMHO, STUFF the Licensed stuff if it keeps costs from being outrageous!! 😋 This is absolutely on my Dream List. Yes, as a demon owner i can say it is definitely let down by its transmission design and slop throughout the drivetrain. Sucks because they do alot of other parts really well! Hope they design a better drivetrain that is worth the asking price!

A "junk" for one maybe a "treasure" for others. I want to play with rc crawler, i can't afford to buy Axial, Traxxas, element. So i buy China - RGT, HSP, etc. They said I play "junk". Lol

Blame the customer they didnt add shims to their sloppy drivetrain? Wont ever buy a CrossRC product. I've got quite a few cars and not one of them required any shims. Axial, Vaterra, Traxxas. No shims and no slop.

I'm shopping for my first rig, and I REALLY love the look of this one. I can understand some manufacturing issues if they are handled promptly with genuine solutions. But, blaming the customer for manufacturer quality control is unacceptable. Too many choices, especially if a person has a $500 budget. No thanks.

Cvd are junk in the flagship model as well been thru countless cvd finally mip made some for them that are a bit better and the transmission had same issue been thru 3 so far

This truck is kinda pointless. Its decked for competition yet has an soa servo. This will never compete in class three and get anything but last place. Sorry Cross RC.
